I just had my dealer come up with the scan, and they are going to replace both of the actuators. I figure I'll get them replacing them for the next 10 years or until it stopsNEXT FORSCAN CLASS ASSIGNMENT: See if any of us can find an Active Air Dam DISABLE. I have no damage, ice stuck, etc but randomly get the message about an issue with the Active Air Dam. Has never been stuck in down position. I assume it is just not always lowering. Very common issue and even the dealer said not worth replacing parts as you'll just get the message again but with new parts.
This is supposed to result in a 4% MPG advantage for ICE trucks at highway speeds (doesn't lower until 45 mph) but I'd sacrifice this by disabling or removing the air dam vs the impending collision with a rubber dog or other road debris.
Not a big job to remove (12 small bolts) and all reports are no codes or messages once removed. Just seal up the 2 plugs. Still, easier if the 2 actuators that lower/raise it could be disabled via code.
When it warms up, I'll look further (I've already looked through various modules that made sense but nothing found to disable). Any ideas welcome and I can share (even share with the ICE community as the active air dam is pretty much on all 2021+ F-150s.
