The last time I bought wire, 125 feet 8 gauge wire was almost $500. So to have someone install for $800 is a good price. Make sure you get a industrial rated receptacle.
Check around for rebate programs, in Pennsylvania there is a program that will pay for the install. Also check for IRS rebate programs.

That seems really high. Last August, 200’ of #8 THHN cost me $92.41.

I agree with the cost benefit analysis but you spent how many thousands of dollars on buying your EV. Why would you skimp on the cost/quality of the charging infrastructure? I try to cut costs or keep them as low as I can, but My guess is you/we are going to use this for the rest of our lives so you should also calculate that into your cost benefit analysis. My two cents.

Has anyone tried a faster level 1 charger or have another suggestion on how to get faster at home charging without installing a new 240 circuit? cheapest quote I have gotten for that so far is $800 so I’d like another option. If I could get 3-5 miles added per hour that would be all I needed
Have you asked for the 30 amp option? That's what I use as I already had a 30 amp outlet in my garage. Then the Grizl-E or similar charger where you can limit the charge to 24 amps. Charges my XLT overnight easily. If you show an electrician a 40 amp charger then they have to install a 50 amp breaker and 6 gauge wire. 10 awg is sufficient for a 30 amp circuit and much cheaper. 24 amps at 240V = 5.6kW and this gives about 10-12 miles per hour added.

You may want to revisit your decision limiting yourself to 32A charging by using 8/3 UF for your EVSE. If I had to dig a long trench, I'd future-proof things by spending the extra money now for #6 conductors. If you are dedicating the circuit to the EVSE, you could forego the neutral and use 6/2 (125'@$482.50 @ Lowes today), skip the high quality $$ 14-50 receptacle and hardwire the EVSE. As @Scorpio3d pointed out, this is probably for the long term.

Exactly right. 30amps at 240V is what I have used for two years and two EVs. Never a conflict as they don't usually both charge on the same day.

I actually have two, a hardwired ChargePoint at 48 amps and the 14-50 receptacle for the Ford mobile charger. I put the big Ford charge station pro on the shelf, it's more power than I needed.

i looked up the Lowes link. It says $279.26 !?
The link is for UF cable, which is not what’s on the receipt. The NM shown on the receipt should be less than UF - closer to $200. Could be a regional thing, but damned, that’s a huge difference.
