My initial quote from my longtime insurance co was going to be about double what I was paying for my 14 year old Audi. But I had to switch ins co for other reasons and when I did the new one got me 1/2 that price for the same level of coverage, which was amazing. So it pays to shop around carriers.

My insurance did not change dramatically when I upgraded from my 2016 Hyundai Sonata PHEV. It increased slightly, which I expected given that it was much newer, and had 10 times the value. And it is comparable to all of the other cars on my policy, when adjusted for value. But I also have higher than the state minimum of coverage. So I may have already been above average, and purchasing the lightning was just 'living up to my coverage'.

Sounds like you are assuming there.
Like I said I'd shop around, but if you'd rather bend over and take it then that's you're choice.
My insurance went up $70 per year, had a 2013 Silverado and got the 2023 Lightning.

I pay around $1200 a year for full coverage on my wife's 2019 jeep, my Lightning Pro and collision on my old 2002 BMW 325i. I'm in MD, I don't think our insurance rates have gone too crazy yet

Insurance has gone crazy - our homeowners (Nationwide) jumped out off the planet the last two years - I had it on auto-pay and missed the jump until it was too late.

After 30+ claim free years!

So this year we bundled homeowners with our auto (GEICO) and dropped it quite a bit, but still ridiculous.

Six Month Premium Per Vehicle:

2001 Ford Ranger = $320.52 (just liability - gifted to a grandson in June)
2012 Nissan Leaf = $466.00 (comprehensive)
2015 Toyota Prius = $604.50 (comprehensive)
2023 Ford F-150 = $650.80 (comprehensive)

And that is after the "total value of your discounts is $1,013.00" omg!

For the Lightning, $1794.02 (and that is after a personal use discount of 50%).

Also huge jump in real property taxes this year and last. $9450.65 a year!

Between insurance and taxes, it's hard to be retired around here!

I traded my wife’s 2015 Hyundai Elantra when I got my 23 XLT, I was shocked my insurance only went up $10 for the last month of our 6 month term. Our insurance was already high though because her car was the most stolen in our city, the only reason I wanted to get rid of it, because it was nice car otherwise.

Insurance is like a ponzy scheme in the state of WA. That being said my brand new Lightning is half the cost to insure as my 2015 Model S was!
