I dont think this is true, and if it is its a bad design.
Worked for me on the ~1600 mile road trip I had. Pressed the button after someone mentioned it either on this forum or the FB group; car scanner shows amperage draw skyrocketing to get the battery cooled down and within 10 minutes it brought my battery down from 120* or so to 90* which appears to be the higher end of the "middle" line of the gauge.

Yes it provides extra cooling in tow/haul, but this time of year wouldn't it need extra heating to precondition for DCFC?

It was something that only popped up as of a couple months ago, I'm sure some of the winter road trippers will report back for us. I tried it when the battery was ~75* but it appears that is the normal range so it didn't need to do anything.

In theory it should do the same thing to ensure the battery is prepped for the workload.
