Ford didn't make the adapters, Tesla did
Not complaining about the bad adapters. But am very annoyed by Ford's silence on all problems from battery modules, adapters FCSP, etc. Ford has always been this way which is part of the reason why I haven't owned any of their vehicles since I was a kid. They are making some very good vehicles currently and I love our Lightning but am very put off by their admit nothing corporate culture. GM and Stellantis are almost as bad.

We have a long trip planned for December which involves over 20 V3 Superchargers for the roundtrip. If Ford cannot supply the adapter I reserved on the first day they were announced I will use the Rivian one. It worked fine when I tested it the other day.

I held off on buying a Lightning because of the charging infrastructure. Bought ours within a week of the supercharger announcement. Shopping for a replacement EV when my wife's Ioniq 5 lease is up next Summer. The MachE Rally has us intrigued but probably won't get another Ford.

That's great if they are going to use a competent supplier going forward. Consensus is the original Lectron adapter wasn't as well built as the A2Z but they've had some time to iterate now. And hopefully can actually get a few built.

That's pretty cool, but it's a little silly to see them jump from recalled Tesla adapters to Lectron (which at one point had a recall situation of their own). That's in the past though at least.

The fact that Lectron had a major QC escape, which I would say falls under the "unacceptable" category of risk management, makes me really wish Ford had worked with A2Z on this.

You mean like how A2Z quickly redesigned thier adaptor? Maybe cause this was a whole new product and everyone was rushing to get a beta out there?

I plan to use the Ford one unless I need a second, but so far each of the manufacturers has had to do a major “tweak” so not sure any of them are the gold standard right now.

AFAIK, A2Z saw improvements to be made and updated their adapter without having a QC issue like Lectron did. I don't think they ever had a recall.

Ford is emailing affected customers. I got an email and it said they are supposed to be shipping replacements this week but I’m not holding my breath.
Sounds like you got a unique email. My email said I had until October 24th to verify my address. As to shipping, it says "Ford will supply a replacement adapter in the coming weeks and provide return instructions to send back your existing adapter - both at no cost."

Thank you. It's weird that Rivian and GM haven't had any problems. Another Ford mystery which is why I'm unlikely to be a repeat customer.
I think you mean to say "It's surprising that Rivian and GM are both using the same adapter that Ford recalled, when are they going to recall their shipments that are defective"?

Or, did Ford alone get a defective batch...

I can’t get it out of my head that so many people on this forum said they would never buy an aftermarket adapter because they were worried about the reliability. Now the Tesla adapter has had a fail and Ford is going with an aftermarket adapter. Those people that were so vocal about aftermarket adapters before sure seem to be quiet now.

I was one and I still will be waiting for my Lectron or Tesla made reissued Ford adapter.

My personal decision was I was afraid this rush to market was going to do exactly what happened, so if something failed I wanted Ford to have less of a way to weasel out of fixing my truck. But I have had my official adapter since June/July and have only used it to test it. I don’t DCFC often and was still using up my EA credits.
