Glare Free light operation

I agree with you @Firn and @Cvh8601 , the glare free light are not necessarily a "set it and forget" thing. The driver still needs to give input to operate appropriately, especially in urban areas or when navigating through lots of intersections.

The biggest payoff for me is where I live, mostly rural and light suburban. Glare free really is a game changer in these conditions on lighter traveled single lane roads and highways. For me it's much more enjoyable and better lighting than the constant high/low switching of the old "automatic" setting.

@Firn , for me, the "push the stalk forward" cycles through the lights in this order: glare-free > low only > high only > back to glare-free. If I pull the stalk back while in glare-free, I get high beam only, and back to glare-free when I release. I don't know if this is in the 2024 or Pro trim or if I just got lucky, but it's consistent and easy to manipulate.

I feel like enabling it and disabling it was different when I first enabled the feature in forscan, more like you describe. I actually prefer the way it is now, I can turn it on or off, and i can flash. The issue is simply that the same action does not always do the same thing, and you cannot really tell when it's going to do which.

@B177y & @Firn, these last two posts are helping me...as I just activated this feature but didnt see anything working while driving (there wasnt much time where cars weren't around though and I was brighting everyone trying to get it to work, so I stopped).

Besides the stalk pushing/pulling as mentioned, my question is: do I have to have the auto lights selected on the rotator circle or will this function when simply on?

Yes, glare free only works when the switch is in the "Auto" position. The headlight symbol on the instrument screen will be green with an "A" inside of it.

Thanks, I thought I recall seeing two green icons next to each other. Will be awhile before I can test again, have an upcoming road trip in another car.

The two green headlights symbol indicate that the parking lights are on via the switch, not glare free lights. Glare free looks like a single headlight symbol, similar to the blue high beam symbol but green with an "A" inside of it.

Page 113 in the US manual. There's nothing about glare free because we're in the US, but here's the symbols. Glare free looks like the "autolamps" symbol in green instead of the default white (auto high/low only).

GLARE FREE LIGHTING REQUIREMENTS

The system turns on if all of the following occur:

• You switch the system on (Settings : Vehicle : Lighting : Glare free)
• You set the lighting control to the autolamps position.
  
• The ambient light level is low enough.
• Your vehicle speed is greater than approximately 52 km/h (32 mph).

The system adapts the lighting to avoid glare if all of the following occur:

• You switch the system on.
• You set the lighting control to the autolamps position.
• The system detects an approaching vehicle's headlamps or rear lamps.

The system turns off if any of the following occur:

• You switch the system off.
• You set the lighting control to any position except autolamps.
• The ambient light level is high enough.
• The system detects severe rain, snow or fog.
• The system detects street lighting.
• The camera has reduced visibility.
• The vehicle speed falls below approximately 30 km/h (19 mph).

Note: The deactivation speed is lower on curves.

GLARE FREE LIGHTING INDICATORS

Illuminates (Green) to confirm when the system is ready to assist

(If your icon is white that is Auto High Beam, not Glare-free)


OVERRIDING GLARE FREE LIGHTING

Push the lever away from you to switch the high beams on.

Push the lever away from you again to switch the high beams off (this will just be low beams).

Push the lever away from you for a third time to switch glare free lighting back on.

Thanks for those notes, pretty sure I saw this on-screen but may have quickly pushed the stalk...which prob messed it up.

Edit: yep, saw it tonight although it wasnt dark enough to emit brights, these were the symbols.
