Yeah, every 14-50R sold meets UL498. There may be imported exceptions sold on Amazon. All we can do is look at the history of which have been failing and which have not. And these new “EV” receptacles are too new to have accumulated any meaningful history. Time will tell.

According to Leviton site the EV rated plug are for both the higher amps and the high frequency of insertions. Still made in China.

I agree, Hubbell and Bryant are some of the best.

Mewonders whether this "EV rated" label is meant for long continuous loads (EV charging) vice shorter intermittent loads (electric compressor motors, dryers, etc.).

It's a stove outlet so I would hope it's capable of running a stove for hours.

Edit: after reviewing the specs from leviton, the 4x cost of the "EV" outlet is merely for the promise of handling repeated insertions. Their ev outlet also has a slightly poorer fire rating.

You'd have to do a lot of insertions to wear out the regular $13 outlet. The cheap $6 outlet I wouldn't recommend but you could buy 10 of them instead of the $60 "EV" outlet.

It's a stove outlet so I would hope it's capable of running a stove for hours.

An electric stove might indeed cook for hours, but its heating coil often is "on & off" and not a continuous current demand like a charging EV is. The stove aims to maintain a constant cooking temperature, which by definition means cycling the current on and off to counteract the constant incremental cooling of the cooking container. Hence, "on & off" at the receptacle, which makes a difference over hours of applied current and the resulting heat buildup at the receptacle.
