Ok, so I have been a lighting owner since 7/1/23 and not have received one Over the Air updates to my Sync or Navigation.
I did alot of reading on here and discovered that maybe my Battery Monitor was at fault. opened the battery cover and discovered I had an identified defective module. Called the dealer and they came out today and replaced the module and did several Battery, Body etc module s/w updates. But no change to sync or navigation...

I tried to kick off Update and keeps coming back nothing to update/download. Now digging more and reading more it says you need to be connected to a cellular service....WTF? I'm connected to my home WiFi and phone Bluetooth.... What cellular service do I need to get these updates?

How does this crap work?

The truck is likely connected to the local cell network unless you're really in a rural are, that's in addition to the wifi network. If you are rural, at some point when traveling closer to cell towers you'll get the downloads .... when your truck is scheduled for them.

The truck has a cellular modem that connects automatically without you doing anything. You likely won't get an update right away. You're now just in the queue for whenever you would get the next one. Which is completely without any externally known logic.

First, very unlikely the BMS sensor was causing your lack of updates. That was answered in that thread. Its likely you're not getting updates because you have a 2023. We all have/had the same sensor and many of us got updates.

What was happening is *maybe* the BMS sensor would keep some updates from installing. But no affect downloading them.

To check if your cellular is working, go to the hidden Diagnostics menu. Instructions here: https://www.f150lightningforum.com/...ics-menu-undocumented-in-owners-manual.16392/

One of the screens will show this:

If your show Cellular Connected and TCU Connected then the onboard modem is connected.

I really appreciate all the help on this site and have learned so much...
I did the Diagnostics steering wheel buttons and Cellular was Disconnected first - for 3 seconds and then switched to Connected. Kind of surprised it shows my WiFi as disconnected. but from the standard connectivity is shows connected and strength as excellent.

Keep checking for S/W updates and nothing to Download.... Am I just being paranoid? And I'm not due? I still don't have the UI % of SOC reading on the dash...

Many of us still don't have it (me included). And there's no way to force an update.

Nothing to worry about, it'll show up one day.

To change the subject slighty, I'm planning on removing the fuse for the TCU and I assume any sync updates will come via WIFI? If "No" there's APIM setting at 7D0-02-02 that indicates if the TCU is present and has a hotspot and I wonder if that would have any effect on updates via Wifi?

It seems like everyone that has update issues has the big screen. Am I right?

Clicking the button doesn't go check the servers for updates. Until Ford queues one up for you, there won't be one.

Updates were paused a month ago for both the truck and the Mach-E.
