I can't think of any other easy weight removal/drag items.
It's doubt it's easy, but I'd look into removing the bed if I were getting serious about it.

I plan to go to the Friday night drags next month. I am looking for ideas for the best run! I should arrive with a 99-100% charge. ER XLT

I plan to remove only for the night:
  • Tailgate
  • Bed cover
  • all mats
  • rear seats
  • running boards
  • spare tire
  • antenna
  • Fold in mirrors
I can't think of any other easy weight removal/drag items.
I won't gut the interior and will have a passenger so front seats stay.
I will replace everything after the track night.
Radio, mobile charger, door panels...have fun putting it back together after the race!

In all seriousness, could a section, maybe half, of the battery be removed? For a qtr mile, may be able to get by on 20 kWh total.
Imagine run times with 800 less pounds.

Not without major work a lift and heavy duty equipment to handle the pack., also less modules in series would reduce maximum designed output to the motors ruining the the ET/MPH results, akin to taking a couple pistons out of an ICE engine.

Most hobby racers, are pulling off the simple stuff, then reverting to road worthy status by the end of race day and heading home, likely driving in and out of the event.

Many years down the road we may see chopped chassis with permanent racing modifications, possibly to the extent that it comes a trailer queen race car (TRUCK).

Thinking way outside the box, but I'm thinking at what point is the truck no longer a Lightning and the speed set no longer matters because it was half dismantled.

Agree, follow the spirit of "Stock" class and have fun, OP has the skill set to do serious bracket racing regardless of top ET/MPH.

Is that gizmo on the back of your bike stock?
Glad you asked ...... Yes, it is a "Factory Built" race bike, one of approx. 650 units built in 2006.
It was designed and spec'd for what was briefly the "Destroyer" Specification Class in AHDRA.

The bike came with all the kit for a full out of the crate drag bike, including a MSO with restrictions for race track only use, can not be titled/registered for street use.

Fun Fact: The VROD is the bastard step brother of Harley, kinda how we Lightning owners are looked upon by the ICE brotherhood.......
