Alright lightning team, could use some help. I’ve got the mongoose, and having trouble trying to install the sw and drivers into a virtual windows 11 machine in my MacBook Pro. Have any of you done this…and/or do you know for a fact a virtual machine just won’t work?

Have used virtual machines plenty in the past, but can see windows 11 isn’t recognizing the device correctly after installing the software suite.
Thanks for any help.
This may help:

It's been a hot minute since I've done FDRS updates but I've gotten all of the EA OTA's up through 6ch-aud. Looks like there's a decent list of pending updates:
Ford F-150 Lightning Lightning Software Updates using FDRS 1713111212215-ax

Are any of these problematic to install? Do any of them have a noticeable effect? Mulling whether or not to apply all of these before a road trip.

I would avoid the powertrain right now or you might end up like @ChrisCon and me with a leftover SOBDM that won't clear and an ABS that didn't update...but says it did.

So that means avoid the PCM, ABS, SOBDMC, BECM, GFM2, SOBDM, and SOBDMB because they are all scripted to update together....but didn't actually.

So that leaves you with the FHCM and HVAC right? Not really worth the two-day subscription if that's what your plan was.

I second this..
None of these updates did anything noticeable to my truck and we can’t clear the SOBDM.
Also the Front Hatch Controle Module update now will throw an unclearable DTC if you have unhooked the "sounder" which didn't throw a code before the update . @megaohm might want to create new product.

Thank you! Saved me hours of time plus a mini heart attack. I don’t think the FHCM and HVAC updates are even worth the effort of hooking up the battery tenders! Was really hoping for the next baby steps towards the BC 1.4 or at least the APIM refresh by now.

Newish F150 Lightning owner here. After reading the FDRS instruction thread, I purchased a Clore PL6100, Mongoose cable, and 2 day FDRS license. I updated all available modules today, everything went smooth. The clore kept my voltage at above 13v the whole time, even during the 3-4 hour IPMA update. A couple questions for the group below.

  • After updates, am I supposed to see state of charge % in the digital cluster? I still only see it while in bluecruise.
  • SYNC version is showing 23159, I believe the latest is 23291, does that mean my SYNC update did not work? I believe this is one that required the USB drive. Everything went smooth during the update and I got the message saying that the update was successful after waiting 10 minutes.
My VIN is below just incase one of you want to confirm on your end: 1FT6W1EV8PWG60670

I certainly looks to me like it was a total success. I don't know why your truck hasn't been offered any further updates at this point. They usually only come out one day a week anyway.

You have no DTCs showing. It just may take a day or two for your truck to be offered something.

Your Sync update went fine.

If you are using a macbook pro with apple silicon, there is no way to make FDRS and the Mongoose cable work on it. VM wont work and you cant run FDRS on windows for arm and use the drivers..

I'm typing this from my truck using a new alienware laptop because it got old quickly toting my desktop PC to the truck.

😂. Thank you. Hoping the Costco HP suffices. Not interested in paying Alienware money to do updates!

That Costco HP will work fine. I use an old 4th gen Intel i7 based laptop and it works fine for FDRS. I will mention that I did a clean install of Windows 10 on it to get rid of any bloatware and FDRS is the only thing I use it for.

There's a new FDRS 40.4.1 out this morning.....I haven't noticed one thing different...but it's a major revision release...without any update notes or change log.

If you own a 22 or 23 Lightning and find a set of powertrain updates in your FDRS available list...leave them alone for now. Three of us now have done these and have an issue with a SOBDM that stays in the available list in FDRS...but there's also an ABS update that shows up as available in PTS as well...but not in FDRS for some reason.

Anyway, this powertrain update package is sub-optimal and not ready for prime-time. So wait until the all-clear sounds before engaging.

ACK - don't touch PCM (until someone posts it working properly)- check :)
The thing is, your drivetrain modules may be far enough behind where you can maybe do one string and not the second ones that pop up. I don't know the EV's well enough to confirm. Also, a lot of these drivetrain module updates are chained to each other, so doing one will trigger another one right after. @Mike G is the resident expert here when it comes to FDRS updates on these vehicles, so hopefully he can chime in and confirm which are the ones you want to avoid.
