Another key item you need to know about most of the v4 superchargers is that right now - they are built of new the design v4 stand, but most have v3 power cabinets behind them.

The Typhoon adapter was supposed to start shipping on the 5th. Did any brave soul on this site pre-order one, and did it ship?

I did not pre order but I did place an order today. I have talked with A2Z’s owner, Amine, while also watching his YT interview with Tom from State of Charge. The adapter seems properly engineered, with all the specs and testing available on his site. He will gladly go into further specs and details over the phone. He has assured, and his website does state that even though NDAs prevent disclosure of which OEMs have blessed the product, that this will work on V3/V4 Superchargers and Ford vehicles. He has gone back and forth with the OEMs and they have blessed the product for mass production. Amine has also assured (gentleman’s agreement) that if for whatever reason something falls through, and we cannot use the plug, he will fully refund the money. Now, preorders are shipping and he expects my order to ship end of January. Buyers have a 14 day window to return the product. I assume by mid February Ford/ Tesla will release details about SC network access.

can you publish the YouTube video of this? My real question is even if we have the adapter, Tesla has no way of charging us at the Supercharger while using the adapter. So, why order one?

I have seen this but don't know how Tesla will charge us when using it on a Supercharger. Don't they have to set up a whole new system or do we just plug and play and use the Tesla app to somehow let them charge us for the use?

I did (if Monday last week counts), no shipping notice yet.

Those details remain to be seen but it’ll probably be just like any other charge network - register with the Tesla app and plug and play or plug and play through the Ford blue oval network.

I preordered early last week. No indication of shipping yet.

Might be, but I looks around and seems like about 95% of the superchargers on the routes and destinations I frequent are v3 so I figured it’d be worth the risk to have one in hand for whenever Tesla and Ford decide to go live with it. If it works, I‘ll be able to more comfortably road trip with the truck. If it doesn’t, then I’ve got an interesting doorstop for this one door at my office that refuses to stay fully open…

You can make a Tesla account that saves your payment info then download the Tesla app which allows you to manually activate the charger. There’s currently very few Superchargers with this capability but I’m assuming Tesla will flip the switch for many others in February. Here are some screenshots of the process -

You download the Tesla app, add your CC info, go to charge a non Tesla vehicle (the whole new system), select the charger and turn it on from the app. I already have a Tesla so I did not have to add a CC or account info. The magic dock I tried worked really well.

I have that same app and my credit card is all set but this is specifically for magic docking and not any Tesla supercharger that you choose to use the adapter with. Am I confused or am I to assume that this is for any Tesla Supercharger for any Supercharger stall?

From my understanding, charging will not be on the Tesla app and SCs will never be displayed under “Charge your non-Tesla”. The reason for this being that if opened on the app, anyone would be able to pull up and charge their non-Tesla; there is no way to verify what car you own. To ensure a phased rollout, such as to Ford and GM first, then to other OEMs successively, authentication will be done through Fordpass. In other words, if you want to charge at a supercharger, you wont find it on the Tesla app. You can only unlock it on Fordpass. This way, Tesla ensures that only Ford customers have access to it. Same with whatever app GM has.
