And how do I get it? I signed up in the Ford charging site to be notified when they are available, but it sounds like it might take a long time… ugh. Are there any options out there?

Not planning to use a lot of public charging, but would be great to be able to charge up at the huge & fast network!

The A2Z NACS to CCS1 adapter is your best bet — https://a2zevshop.com/products/nacs-ccs1

It’s $189 currently and I think if you use “FORDFORUM” as a coupon code you get an extra 10% off. Ford is no longer offering the adapter for free, but they come bundled with their mobile charge cord, and it’s availability is spotty and price is high because of being bundled.

ahh ok.. slowly getting what’s going on here! I’ll start to dig into the various posts, but for now - is there a general consensus on these A2Z adapters? Do they work? Are they suitable quality?

I have the A2Z Typhoon Pro and it works no problem. A2Z just issued a recall on their V1 adapter but they're working on calling those back and replacing with the V2 which is the Typhoon Pro. Reason for the recall was that Tesla didn't like the manual locking mechanism holding the NACS handle to the adapter.

Other one would be the Lectron Vortex which also had its own recall due to the locking mechanism not working at all. That has since been rectified and replacements are on their way out.

Ford recently partnered with Lectron to manufacture Ford branded adapters from Lectron so they can get their hands on more supply than the Tesla built adapters.

As long as you stick with a safety certified make and model, you should be ok. Stay away from the Ali express/amazon fakes. Not worth saving a few dollars when your vehicle is worth tens of thousands. You can't go wrong with either Lectron or A2Z but I have the latter personally.

Just a reminder to all readers of this, the bundling of NACS adapter with Ford mobile charger [FMC] will start with model year 2025

got it, thanks
You may also want to consider buying the package of the SuperCharger adapter, Typhoon Pro, and the Destination Charger adapter, Stellar, because it's a great deal. Use code FORDFORUM to get the best price (see below).

A2ZEV makes the Typhoon Pro adapter for Tesla SuperChargers. It sells for $189.00 ($170.10 after using code FORDFORUM). They also sell the Stellar adapter, which is for Tesla Destination chargers (such as hotels, private homes). It sells for $111. If you pick use the dropdown menu on the Typhoon Pro page to pick the Stellar adapter also, the combined price is $270.00 ($243.00 with code FORDFORUM). In other words, it’s only $72.90 more for the destination charging adapter. They are currently shipping quickly. I have both adapters and have used both many times. They work great. https://a2zevshop.com/products/nacs-ccs1?ref=Typhoon&variant=43186507579592

As above buy the A2Z it’s well worth it. Parking can be tricky, either end up with front bumper touching the charger to reach or if you can snag the spot beside the charging banks it’s easier.

None of the aftermarket adapters are officially approved, as far as I know; legally if anything went wrong you'd probably be liable for any damage to the truck or charger. There have been no reports of any such damage that I know of, but I believe the legal risk is there. Tons of people are using them.

Anyway, there are three aftermarket alternatives now:
- A2Z Typhoon Pro
- TeslaTap SuperTap
- Lectron Vortex

Both A2Z and TeslaTap have pretty good reputations with many years in the charging accessories business. Lectron seems like a little more "seat of the pants" engineering to me. Maybe more willing to cut corners as that is the culture. But lots of people use their products with no issues.
