Parked in my level garage, turned truck off and kept doors unlocked. An hour later I went to get something out of the back seat. When I opened/closed the back door I heard the parking brake set itself (I can't remember if it triggered when I opened the door or when I closed it). I confirmed that the sound was in fact the brake being set. When I later got in the truck to drive it the brake was set and the display had reset to the My View menu (which happens from time to time anyway).

It seems really weird that it would just randomly set itself when the truck had just been sitting there, and even weirder that opening/closing the door triggered it.

The brake otherwise works normal. I don't really consider this a problem per se, it's just something odd that makes me wonder if anyone else has seen it.

Ghosts in the system ..... Yes, I've also experienced what you observed, no clue why this spontaneous E-brake action occurs.

I guess that is just the opposite of the old spontaneous acceleration that vehicle supposedly had happen… probably better too!

Perhaps opening the door shook the sensor enough for the truck to consider it now is on a hill??
I think this is right. There's definitely logic that sets the parking brake automatically. I haven't figured exactly what that logic is but something along the lines of "this is a time when the truck shouldn't move" seems about right.

I believe that the truck shook enough to make it think that it was on a slight inclined. Also, most garages, the slab is poured at an angle, so water runs out the door. I do believe the truck is designed for the emergency brake to engage when the vehicle is on a certain percent of incline. Might’ve been a combination of the incline and the truck shaking just enough to warrant the truck to automatically apply the emergency brake.

the parking brake WILL actuate automatically, after a period of time, when the truck is left ON, even if you are sitting in it... it's just a safety protocol. Since I leave the truck on almost ALL the time I have it in use, I see this happen quite often - it does the same on my wife's KIA EV9. Sitting on a hill or rise does not trigger this, it's a TIMING action.

I actually have a slight slope to my driveway, I never have to worry about setting the brake. It does it for me. Which I like.

Now If only the truck will stay in sport mode for more than 2 seconds without me having to confirm and hit the OK button.
