I noticed the availability of the update last night in my FordPass app. My truck had been on the charger for awhile and I went out and manually started the update from the truck and went to bed. Woke up this morning with the update successful and 100% charge (set to stop at 90% but likely the update goes to 100% so everyone can see the new GOM range). No messages suggesting any error. I don't know what everyone's charging status is when they try the update, but maybe it's a requirement to be plugged in because it wants (I think) to charge to 100% as part of the update. And sorry if this is in the thread somewhere earlier because I didn't read it all.

That's an interesting observation!

Maybe someone with a pending update could:
  • Delete location based charging scheme
  • Drive normally for the day.
  • At the end of the day, plug in let charge begin
  • Start a manual update.
  • After it has finished, success or failure, input the prefered location based charging rule.
  • Drive down the battery to prefered max SOC

I did all that trying to install this update for the past few days.

I tried the update while it was fast charging at Target. I came back and noticed it had failed, read the instructions, and then realized no fast charging.

Took truck home and plugged it in (also found out the hard way my frunk both won't clear the garage door and will try *really* hard to make itself clear!) :(. Failed again.

Plugged in 12v battery charger *while* EVSE was plugged in (failed).
Plugged in 12v battery charger *without* EVSE plugged in (failed).

Charged 12v battery all night long, tried it with and without the EVSE again but failed both time. Hopped in to the truck, drove a few hundred miles, then parked all day at 35% until around 9pm. Went to the fast charger and charged up to 84%, drove around for about a mile checking on things in town, went home, went to sleep, didn't plug in, just sat there with 82% overnight...and woke up to a new updated truck!

None of my settings were scrambled. I don't know if it will shoot past 80% because I didn't have my charger at the desert home wired in (just finished and got it connected to wifi but can't get it to connect to the Ford Pass app..."station not found") but all my other settings appear to be intact.

Whatever else it takes, it's not solely the 12v battery and it definitely (at least mine) doesn't need to be plugged in.

My update has failed four times in the last 18 hours. I'll plug it in tonight and charge to 90% to see if it updates.

The Ford app and my truck both say that I got the update last night - while charging. Had the truck set to stop charging at 80%. Found it this AM with a 100% charge. Otherwise, everything else was normal. The GOM read 315 miles at 100% (which I attribute to the 40-degree temperature) and my radio settings and lifetime miles per kW hour were unchanged. The truck seems to be behaving normally as I drove approximately 35 miles today and have 295 miles of range with 93% of the battery charge left.

I experienced what most continue to with repeated failures before mine finally installed back on December 15.

Kind of a crazy side note, I've been working on my truck installing a new stereo over the last few weeks. If I've had the truck "on" for a while without driving and it times out and shuts off after 30 minutes or so, when I restart the truck - I get the "Download SW" icon back on the screen. It stays until I go to the SW screen to see what has downloaded and install, but there is nothing new ever there. It's happened 3 times now in the last couple of weeks.

I got mine at at exactly 4:09 this morning! How do I know you ask. Well, the update caused my the alarm to go off and I couldn't get it to stop until I unlocked the truck and physically opened the door.

I've received other updates without this unwelcome feature. All of my neighbors thank you, Ford.

Got the update to apply after 6 unsuccessful attempts - 3 scheduled, 3 manual. The truck was charging using the portable charger on a 110v plug and was at about 68%. On the 4th manual attempt, I took the instructions as literally as possible turning everything off. In previous attempts, I had the headlights on 'auto' instead of 'off' and the wipers on 'rain sensitive' instead of 'off'. Once I turned those 2 switches off, the update applied. Seems very silly, but it worked.

Has anyone else had trouble getting the % charge by location setting set up again after this update?

As many have noted, mine also tried to charge to 100% instead of my set home setting.

I then deleted out my location thinking I would add it back, I even charged a bit at home after to have it show in my charge log. Now I can find no way at all to add a charging location with preferred settings.

any help would be appreciated.

Plug in, go to charge setting, locations and just wait a bit. Eventually it will pop up. I can’t remember but it looks like the dials to set the time are new.

Thanks! That worked, I don’t remember having to have it actively charging while setting originally but that did the trick now.

Changed my vote from No to Yes. It tried to download at midnight Friday night, but was unsuccessful. I hit the Update Now button yesterday afternoon and it was successful!

Still failing on my end. Not too concerned as my 100% charge shows 307 miles on my platinum. Not sure it gets much better than that? I think it’s rated at 300. Anyway will update my vote if it finally takes.
