I'm still stuck on this one. Nothing I've tried has allowed it to install. I guess I'll reach out to Ford... Not critical, but I just want to make sure the updates can continue to flow and I'd rather my truck not get left behind. Yeah it seems the -DET update version comes after this one and some are having issues with that one as well.
Did you reset your BMS? I don't think it is the end all answer, but trying it can't hurt.

I tried resetting the BMS and it did nothing to help. My dealer is telling me it will be over 2 months before they can get me in. Calling Ford was no help. The first person I talked to kept trying to tell me that I had all the updates and it was the app that was the problem. When I asked why the truck was telling me the same thing she had me reset the UI (Volume down and Fast forward on the steering wheel I believe). Ford did tell me that it is a 12v battery issue, but had absolutely no potential solutions for me.

It really sucks being trapped between dealers who are less than helpful, and Ford who can't do anything remotely.

No idea why but it worked last night. We’re on a WNY road trip. My wife took it over to EA and charged to 90. After the charge, the notice popped, she followed instructions and it worked for her. Dumb luck? 7hrs on road, maybe I got a good charge on the 12v. idk

I've done everything but that, avoiding based on info posted here. Ford is pulling the data from my truck for review so we'll see what they say. The Ford tech who told me they're pulling the logs for review said the BMS should only be reset once the 12V is fully charged. I also did charge it the other day with a battery tender hooked up and apparently that will confuse the BMS too. But if I were to test the battery as full, then reset the BMS, that would be the way.

I'm not the only one with this problem so they're gathering data. They think there's a software glitch where some trucks are not charging up the 12V when or as much as they should and a scheduled update should trigger the BMS to charge the 12V system as necessary.

Waiting to see what I hear from them, but if I need to take the truck in, they're scheduling non-critical service appointments about 4 weeks out. Or at least the couple dealerships near me that I'm willing to go to are.

Interesting information. Glad they have some help somewhere trying to do deeper evaluation. From the outside and just the reports here on this forum alone it seems like a pretty simple open and shut case. They just need to visit the part of the code on where they keep the 12v battery charged.

This is not the first release to have this same problem. Last fall the DTE release was the same way. In fact, it seems like any release that requires the truck to be shut down to complete have these same problems. Those that can update while the truck is in use haven't demonstrated this kind of problem.

Hoping they can collect some good information and then will act on it. Shouldn't take this long.

Not sure who you're talking to but the issue has already been figured out?

Don't think it has been figured out... Just a service tech who's spit-balling here. And yet, I think they may have an idea. If this forum is any indication or representative cross section of Lighting owners, then there's probably a sizable number of trucks encountering issues installing updates. I'm hoping they figure it out and get it fixed. Still no luck getting the update to install on mine and I'm awaiting any further info about what they learn.

I’ll add my experience as I’ve often been a consumer of the site, first time contributor. Big thanks to everyone here for creating such a great community!

I too have been dealing with this problem and just put a volt meter on the battery behind the small door in the back of the frunk. It read 12.4v. Is this the correct battery? For the record, I attempted the update immediately after with no success. Has to be the 15th or so attempt.

I’ll add that this is my first issue since having purchased the truck in January of this year. It’s been an incredible experience so far and I couldn’t be more pleased, especially being a long time F150, but first time EV owner.

Probably won't hear anything until Monday or perhaps not until after the 4th... I'm doubtful this is a 12v battery issue. I tried to install again this afternoon after driving around a bit again.

This time I hung out near the truck while working in my garage. When it started the process, everything shut down with the main screen saying "Preparing Update..." The dash cluster screen turned on and off a couple times, then the main screen went dark. Over the next 10 minutes or so, lots of clicking, clunking, other noises from the truck. A buzzing noise that I've seen others report with their successful update, then it all went quiet. About 5 minutes later I get the notification on my phone about the attempted update. So no luck.

I had multiple failures on both the DCFC and range priority updates, all other updates had been installing flawlessly. In both cases they both installed (with a manual "update now") right after a 30 min or so drive.

I received a two-for-one this morning; DCFC update and High Voltage Battery Warning. Tried a few power cycles with no luck then drove it 62 miles to work. I'm assuming it will fix itself by the time I get back to it.🤞

I reset the BMS before trying the first install...no joy. After several more tries, I hooked up my trusty battery charger (old school) and left it attached to the LVB overnight. It was installed when I checked this morning.

I drove over 2 hours today, tried the install again. Nope. And I sat with it again while it did the update. It seems like it's going through the whole update install process and failing at some point near the end. Hoping to hear from Ford tomorrow, but accepting it will probably be later this week.

I have the battery tender back on the 12V and it says it's charging now for the past hour. That seems off to me seeing how it thought I had it charged the other day and as much as I've been driving it. I'm suspecting that if my problem is the 12V battery charge level that I either have a failing 12V battery or my truck is not charging it as it should.

Update: it seems to have fixed itself. Hopefully it fixed the glitch.

Anyone useing a better tender - make sure you ground to the chassis and NOT the negative battery terminal, otherwise the BMS will load shed and the battery wont actually charge. Also when the battery is charged you should reset the BMS.
