I always have "Service Vehicle Soon" message imminent, but finally this time it is persistently there right after the basic warranty expired (currently 64000km, 4000km over)

Paid $180 to get the dealer to scan the code, told its the coolant valve issue but not covered by the Battery and Powertrain warranty

They suspect it would be wiring or just the valve issue, but either is not covered by warranty

To make things worse, any diagnosis or repair requires a minimum of 5 hours of work to drop the battery, and maybe another 1 hour to test the wires, due to all the components are above the battery, poor design for repair as its labour price nightmare

At minimum, the labour could cost me a minimum of $ 1200 CAD, and this does not mean the truck will be repaired; it could cost another 300- 500 CAD (unknown yet) to get the valve or wire harness replaced.

so, the following two warranty does not cover battery and motor cooling system?
This would be dumb as cooling system is part of the EV battery and powertrain components.

Electric Vehicle Component Coverage: Eight years or 100,000 miles
Powertrain Coverage: Five years/60,000 miles

Any help or clarification would he helpful

Thanks!

btw I'm in Toronto, Canada, not sure if Ford has a different policy in the 51th state.

Might try and connect with @Ford Motor Company or reach out to the Ford BEV team to see if they can offer any help.

Reason x*1000 why I wanted the extended warranty, save the arguments about why it's a financially "bad" decision to buy one.

I also opted for the extended powertrain warranty just for peace of mind. These trucks are basically computers on wheels, gone are the days where a garage mechanic can troubleshoot or fix things with relative ease in a weekend.

I don't think we have anything like the aftermarket warranties like Granger in Canada, but if there is, I'd jump on that too and add more coverage.

I was on the fence for the longest time but I did finally get it this March as they announced the price hike.

There's too much stuff that's crazy expensive so basically all it takes is one trip to the dealer for a repair and it would cover the cost of the extended warranty and at that point you're +/- zero. Another trip and it has now paid for itself.

I plan in keeping mine for a long time, as I don't drive enough, taking a bath on depreciation, and its a fantastic vehicle so no real need for an "upgrade".

Best case I "wasted" $2000 on a warranty I'll never get you use - awesome, that'll be a win in my book that I finally had a vehicle that didn't have any issues. Worst case, I have to take it in multiple times which means the warranty was a good investment.

So, win/win.

I'm at 56,000km and looking at the extended warranty now. Looks like warranty will cost between $4000 and $5000 for 4 years / 80,000km with a 3rd party through the Ford dealer for the bumper to bumper coverage - in BC Canada. The Ford warranty is like $7,000 which is insane. There's also a 200,000km warranty with no time limit and I'm waiting to see if it's any good. The reason I'm looking is that I just got my truck back after a month at the dealer. Couldn't figure out the problem and replaced heater, heater wire harness, cooling pump and DC DC inverter. They said it probably wouldn't have been covered outside the 60,000km Ford factory warranty....and was well over $10,000 in repairs. Awk! They didn't need to drop the battery though as I understand....they did all, or most, of the work through the frunk I think. I called Ford Customer service to discuss my concerns with the truck and to try and get help with rental reimbursement....they got a chuckle out of that. Why did I even bother.

The Granger and Zeigler deals are an absolute steal. No brainer add on after purchase. One repair like this and you are nearly even.

I do admit I'm dumb as I thought the basic warranty is 4yr 80000km like other brand...
I have 8yr 120000km extended warranty on my tesla and also the mercedes that I had before lightning

I have one year left on the lease so just hope no more major repair before end of the lease

You need a new dealer. They should be able to see codes remotely after a period and charging 180$ for a code read is stupid but since you're in Toronto they must be used to ripping people.
If the coolant valve is faulting then its most likely a coolant valve, probably cheaper just to replace it than have them attempt troubleshooting the wiring.

Call around and find another dealer who's willing to help. You might have to go to Oakville or north Vaughn or Oshawa.

$180 for a code read is criminal, it's not mercedes Benz ffs.

You sure? I thought the Ford factory warranty is tied to the vin and good for Canada, Mexico and the US?
sorry but I should write a better description
Canadian vehicles cannot buy extend warranty from the USA market, those warranty only applicable to the vehicle sold in the USA, but it can be used in Canada

My vehicle is out of basic warranty, but would anyone to do the remote code reading for free? I doubt it, all GTA dealer are sucking blood from poor customers like me.

Replace the coolant valve also requires to drop the battery, they said its only saving me one hour of labour.

I did think about going to another dealer, but probably the first thing is to charge me another $200 diagnose fee to scan the code before taking any actions.

No your description was great! I will say I bought the warranty for my 22 Platinum a few weeks ago... Just needed a US address. Looking online it seems many others have had success as well, I guess if it doesn't work I can always request a refund, which they do.
