I guess that means the States that were previously friendly to EV infrastructure will get more chargers and States that were previously skeptical of EV infrastructure won't. EV infrastructure spending is written into law and basic economics incentives spending the money but here we are.

My questions are being addressed in the article. The money has been allocated, approved by congress, and distributed to the states as part of the current budget.

Is it legal for the President (whoever he/she is) to then come back and take the money back? I guess we'll find out...

It's not legal. The previous administration did the same thing will wall funding. After about 3 years in court, they were told they had to spend the money. Trump will lose too.

The private sector can handle charging networks. This may slow down rollout, but the networks are going to get built.

I’m not sure if Trump’s actions are legal or not, but it’s amazing how he hit the ground running this time around. There must’ve been some serious planning that likely started before November’s results were in.

No, it is not legal, and it won't happen.

An article written last November "Why Biden’s $7.5B electric vehicle charger push is probably safe from Trump" explains a lot about the program, and why, at that time, many thought the program could only be delayed.

"Bipartisan resistance has also derailed previous efforts to roll back the charger grants over the last two years and that could help protect the funding even with Republican control of Congress, experts say".

That bipartisan resistance came during a time when Trump was not in power.

These projects are multi-year endeavors, funds are allocated yearly with passage of appropriation bills, all it takes to legally slow or stop the process is proper legislation from the House concurred by the senate and depending on the attitude of the executive branch agreed to or if vetoed, then congress can override said veto if congress strongly disagrees.

It would be a beautiful thing if government got back to operating as our forefathers had intended it be done.

I can't explain why, but, this just isn't happening. Been looking for this to improve for years, no buildout or expansion. Charging stations have to happen for the vehicles to proliferate, but, no one is making the investment, even Musk seems to have lost interest. With public charging prices being 4x what power is at home, it seems like this would have to have a payoff eventually, but, no one is building any significant chargers. Major truck stop chains talked about it, but, it just isn't really happening.

The maximum # of these potential chargers that could be built and installed by Tesla, was 20%.

The remaining 80% of these were, by specs, to be NON-Tesla chargers, i.e. EA, etc.
Maybe we are better off not having 80% built by these other guys since they don't work well and get bricked a lot.

Maybe this is better in the long run. Tesla can build out the nature's network.

I've seen several orders coming from the executive branch that are getting smacked down by the judicial branch. I agree with the sentiment that the law will prevail in this instance. Only an act of congress can stop the money.

I am okay if a few things I would prefer are nixed by the Trump Administration.

If it means we nix the programs (and our tax dollars) going to waste on programs like USAID was found to be doing. It is like cutting all the brush around a neglected house. You might cut a few daisies down as your trim away all the growth of weeds and scraggly bushes, but the daisies can return later.

And this is where everything will end up. When Congress does reconciliation, you have to offset spending with savings. Tax cuts is a spend. He's going to pay for them with clawing money back from programs the Republicans disagree with. This is where the tax rebate and infrastructure spending on chargers will be lost.

And when the Democrats get power again, the churn will continue and the cycle starts over. I'm really starting to hate politics. If we could just come together on the things both parties agree on and compromise on the rest, the country would be in a lot better shape. But whomever is in power wants it all. Then the pendulum swings. And we all suffer for it.

Ever hear about this thing called Project 2025? It was ALL planned ahead.
