It is crazy to think that trained mechanics are doing this, but here we are. I was the victim of this on my first service appointment. They replaced the AGM, on my new lightning. The one thing I made sure I did when I started doing my own module programming was to have a high quality, high amperage power supply. Not just the tiny tiny Pro-Logix one, but one that can hold the battery through hours long programming. Have never had any issues just following that. It's completely ridiculous that there is an expectation that they'll kill a 12V LVB during the process of performing module updates.
If the tech is using a Rotunda, Clore, or similar battery charger with a power supply function there is no reason any 12V battery should be harmed during the process.
Simply put, if they killed the battery, they didn't follow instructions, Full Stop.
