Wave 1 Lightning invitation email thread [Update: Emails AFTER 5PM ET]

There were actually a lot of people who got screwed over by dealers who did not discuss the ADM until delivery. The online order did not count as a contract, and there was nothing stopping dealers from changing the price at the last minute. Although most dealers didn't do this, many people did have this happen and shared their stories through the forums or media outlets.

Paper order form isn't a contract either. The first actual contract is the one you sign when vehicle is actually delivered.

One notable example I saw was a lady whose dealer specifically had $10K ADM on the online order That dealer also got $2K non-refundable deposit. Someone advised her that she should join MCA to earn x-plan eligibility and that x-plan precluded ADM. She did that, but didn't bother asking if the dealer was accepting X-plan. When the car was ready for delivery, they still wanted ADM and were not accepting x-plan. What she should have done at the time of order conversion, was switch dealers. There were many examples where dealers tried to spring a surprise ADM and they were able to get help from Ford's Mike Levine to have ADM dropped.

Thanks! I just wanted to know who said it, and that makes sense. Half the news comes from my dealer's uncle's brother's mailman's milkman's cousin's dog walker, ya know? People even today are being misled by dealers regarding timeline, so I wanted to make sure it wasn't hearsay. Hype!

If I hear anything different I'll let everybody know.

Also, my sales guy called. My dealership only had one reservation selected for order too.

Thanks! I'll also share with the community when I get a timeline. I'm Wave 1 as well at my dealer, and the GM at my dealer said I'm also the singular Wave 1 customer. He did mention that the #2 person, which didn't make the cut, reserved 6 minutes after me.

So far, I don't think we've identified a single dealer that has 2 people in Wave 1, someone please correct me if I'm speaking incorrectly! I do think Wave 2 will be MUCH bigger.

Based on my dealer in SoFL everything including 2022 F150 scheduling is delayed as of 3 minutes ago

It seems like wave 1 will be a single person for a majority of dealerships. I think they're testing the ordering process one more time and that wave 2 will be much larger.

I never received an email, but I got a call from my dealer this morning. I'm #1 on their list, he said I was one of the few that was selected to place an order, so I don't know if he just means in general or at his dealership. He said he needed to figure out everything on his side of things with regards to how to properly place the order and then he would be ready for me to come in and place my order. I reserved mine during the Lightning launch event.

I believe the same, but I am number 10 at my dealership even though I reserved mine at 12AM (5/20). So I think I will be in the later waves regardless.

My dealership sales folks were under the same impression that since they had 29 reservations (not a large dealership) and that they were told they could prioritize 5 of their reservations that they would all get ordered today. Thankfully I am #1 at that dealer, but it won't matter if my dealership itself is near the bottom of the totem pole allocation-wise. I have not gotten an email so far. I did meet with the sales staff this morning and they told me that nobody at Ford had told them how the process was supposed to work, and they had no idea that their "top-5" were not actually going to be in wave 1 at all. Again, they say their regional rep is clueless and never really tells them anything. And even when they ask pointed questions...the regional doesn't know the answer and has to use the "phone a friend" lifeline. Not confidence inspiring. But neither was the whole Mach-E ordering process either actually. Much less the whole Bronco fiasco...!

Send them the dealer guides posted here... Some of them had fairly clear directions for dealer.

Still a completely blank reservations page for me.... and I saw a different email from ford a few min ago about the lightning capabilities rather than wave 1 confirmation. Though my dealer has confirmed I'm in wave 1..... patience grasshopper, patience....
