Seems like you would be fine.
I have a lake house that’s 120 miles one way and can make it there with a 1000 ft elevation increase and back and have about 40 miles left without charging. Average 65 mph- done in 30 degree all the way up to 90.

probably wouldn’t try it below 25 without a 30 minute stop on the way back

Either way making it or not making it , charging from less than 10% battery to 100% at home using anything lass than 60 amps is not going to get back to 100% in under 12 hours.
just something to think about in the winter
My math comes out to 10.5 or 11.2 hours (2024 vs 225 model) at 48A (max charge rate).

(131kWh+39kWh)×1.5m/kWh=255 mile range.

If I'm reading your original post correctly, round trip is 254 miles. You'd need to get at least 1.6m/kWh to arrive home with 10%. This would work most of the time. If it were me I'd need to have a good backup plan for when it doesn't work. Strong winds and cold temperatures are your enemy.

Edit: @RickLightning came to the same conclusion I did which illustrates this is a math problem as much as a logistics problem.
I'm with these guys. you'd be ok "most of the time" but winter months, I wouldn't chance it unless you can stop at a DCFC on the way home.

If you don't have range anxiety... Winter with you charging at work should not be an issue. Sitting on the charger at work will keep that battery toasty warm if you need a 15-20 minute fast charge.

Having driven the taconic for many decades to LI, but not yet with the lightning, the overall drop in elevation with all the zippy roller coaster fun, you should be able to be much more efficient with all the regen if you control it in one pedal set to sport mode. That should average you out for the return trip with the extra work charge.

Now with your Y, what is the difference currently in efficiency on the way down vs the return?
I leave with 80%, with this cold snap arrive at 20-25%, get to about 71-77 when I leave.

That is correct. 60 amp is down rated by 20% to 48 amps.
So the Pro charger won’t help any over my already installed tesla charger?

As a Model Y and Lightning owner here’s my opinion. Unfortunately the Lightning ER will not meet your needs.

If you had the ability to replenish all the kWhs used while driving south, when you were parked in Long Island for the 6 hours, I would feel different. But adding 35 kwhs (after loosing 10% of 39 kWhs delivered) is not enough to get you home with any reserve in an inefficient Lightning. Lightning takes 40% longer on same L2 charger to replenish battery current used on identical trip.

I drive a 127 mile one way trip routinely in Florida. At 60 mph or lower the vehicles use the same percentage of battery on this trip. Over 60 mph the Lightning‘s parasitic drag causes significant reduction in efficiency compared to the Tesla.

I’m very familiar with your location. I lived in Utica and before that was I lived in Long Island. Traveling between the two locations in the winter is the reason we moved to Florida.
There is an alt route down the Taco which is okay to run at 60-63ish so a little slower but it is hillier.
Luckily there are also plenty of level 3 tesla and other chargers pretty much every 20 miles along the route- but when i want to get home, I want to get home!
getting recharged at my time off use rates (almost free) looks like would be compromised with that long charge time on my current level 2 charger.
so the 80mm pro charger wouldn’t help for my recharge time?

The FCSP can only benefit 2022 & 2023 Lightnings with ER battery's that also have dual onboard chargers, your 2024 has a single onboard charger that can only process 48 amps.

What is the maximum capacity of your tesla charger?
If it's 48 amps, that's as good as it's going to get.
