With his ability to use almost free TOU charging at home the Tesla is perfect for him. His efficient Tesla can be charged/replenished all within the cheap charge hours. The Lightning would take 40% longer to replenish for the same miles driven when he uses the same EVSE.Yes, you can do it.
However, your situation doesn't call for an electric truck.
A cheap and efficient car is what you need.
If he bought a 2022 or 2023 Lightning with ER battery and upgraded his EVSE to a 100a/80a he would be able to match the current charge time with his Tesla.
