This is one of those topics that I believe is more about personal preference than anything else.

I ran out of some the standard “blue” wiper fluid, and was looking into the “higher-end” brands, like Rain-X platinum for example thinking they might be better. However, even though they might be better on paper, some of these silicon based fluids can play havoc with clogging up the lines or even fouling up sensors.

This possibility flawed understanding is based on my 20 minutes of research on Reddit.

Which causes me to wonder...

Which fluid is best?

I don't know about which is best but I use these tablets and they work great.
100 tablets for about $7, makes 100 gallons of fluid.
I'm sure I does not do any good for freezing point but in Florida freezing isn't an issue.

Those tablets are great (ok, maybe just good, not great).

I use dehumidifier water rather than tap water to prevent mineral build up.

Blue. -20 degree. Buy on sale, a case (4). Discuss again years later. Haven't had a clog in 45 years.

I have always been happy with the regular RainX all season (orange fluid).
Second that, been running it for years in all vehicles. Works great, not issues.

I have used this for many years and many vehicles as well and never had issues with clogs. It works well for clearing small bugs and the usual stuff off the windshield not so much for larger bugs/stuff, but have not found anything that works better on larger bugs/stuff!-other than a squeegee or a carwash

Do not buy the turbo power brand. Bought a case this winter and the stuff would freeze the nozzles below - 15degc, it's supposed to be rated for - 35 C. They wanted $10 a gallon for the rain x brand, not worth it either. We go through a lot of it up north in the winter.

When faced with charging areas with no squeegees, and bugs everywhere, I bought two Rain-X squeegees which come with a spray bottle built-in. They were $7.37 when I bought them 2 years ago.

Note - this is for SUMMER. The fluid is to clean off bugs, it is NOT protected to minus anything, i.e. it will freeze in winter.

I usually use the RainX orange, but grabbed some of the green bug remover this season. It has worked well so far.

RainX Orange in the fall/winter (has freeze protection) and RainX Green in spring/summer (better are getting mushed bugs off the windshield). I typically buy them off season as they are discounted at my local Walmart as they try to clear inventory for the switch :) (Orange cheaper in Summer, Green cheaper in winter).

I usually get what ever the cheapest rain-x bottle is. Have only had to fill it once in 2 years so far. Just not much need here. This does remind me that I need new wipers before monsoon starts in July. The sun has done a number on the stock ones.

Look into silicone ones. I made the switch and like them way better than rubber, and silicone is resistant to UV damage.

I too use the orange Rainex. It seems to cause rain drops to slide off like regular Rainex does, though not as strong as a proper Rainex application. I have had bad luck at Valvolene oil change stores where the stuff they put in freezes. Of course I no longer need to go to such places.

Yeah, the charging areas are generally relegated to the furthest point from civilization!
