Zhe Wiz: My last name is "Zhe" (It's German, was Z-e-h and changed to Z-h-e by one of my ancestors for unknown reasons) and I was looking for a good license plate for my 11 second Mitsubishi Eclipse back in 1992. I sent an email to my colleagues. A bunch of cool options, but the one I picked was "ZHE WIZ". At the time, there was an electronics store in NYC called "The Wiz" and their slogan was "Nobody beats The Wiz". That plus I was a programmer...seemed perfect. My 1992 Eclipse (still own it) has that plate. Use that username all over the place, and now here.

Kinda self explanatory. I am involved in dozens of different hobbies, and keep adding to all my "toyz"

Well… at the risk of being hacked😂🤣😂
I guess I’m just a nerd. My first computer was long before modems…. and had the original floppy drive not the 3.5 inch non-floppy floppy drive, but I digress.
Later when we had modems… My friend and I were some of the first to get a video game called Wolfenstein 3-D that you could play together if you had a modem so that became my handle!
My real name is John Wick, and my banking password is FU-🤣😂🤣

I owned a red 2002 SVT Lightning. It was an absolute beast. I loved the intoxicating whine from the supercharger and the fact it would spin the tires even rolling at 25 mph. Anyways, life happens and I sold it a long time ago and it still bums me out that I don’t have it anymore.

I was excited to see the re-release of the Lightning name. It may not be the 3rd gen that was teased in the mid-2000’s, but it’s the truck that fits my family and I the most. And now I happily own and love my Lightning pro.

So in my case, Lightning Strikes Twice

Cool, which one is quicker?

Professionally I teach college level Economic History and my area of scholarship is the early years and products of the Ford Motor Company. One of the articles I have written was on the first factory FMC built on Piquette Avenue in Detroit, which is also known as the Birthplace of the Model T. All of my ICE vehicles are 100+ year old Fords, two of which were built in Piquette. The ID photo is of my first Ford., which just received new tires for its 100th birthday.

Cool, which one is quicker?
When the second gen was stock, it was probably a toss up. But I added a 6# boost pulley, chipped the computer, and added a shift kit. I pulled 12.7 in the quarter mile in muggy south Florida. I doubt the current lightning is that fast. When stock, the second gen was 13.7.

But here’s the thing, my current lightning is so refined, quiet, and able to put the power down with AWD and traction control, it doesn’t feel as fast as it is. The second gen would roast the tires if you weren’t careful and the whine that supercharger made…it was so loud in the cab and absolutely amazing. The experience felt much faster, even if it’s not. There’s really nothing like it.

I’ll never forget the first time I drove it, the salesman didn’t even come with me and my dad. I took a turn while giving it some gas and the truck slid sideways, we left the dealership laughing all the way home. Come to think about it…It really was the most ridiculous thing I ever owned.

I had a stock 2000 SVT Lightning for 17.5 years until I bought my 2022 BEV Lightning. The SVT would do 0 to 60 in about 5.5 seconds. I have a 1967 Pontiac GTO which also does 0 to 60 in about 5.5 seconds. The BEV Lightning does 0 to 60 in about 3 seconds.

I do miss the supercharger whine, the big V-8 idle lope, the 4 barrel Rochester carburetor moan, and the straight-through glasspack "muffler" roar in the BEV Lightning. It is a hotrod, too, but it sure doesn't sound like it.

I was inspired to pick up the guitar and have been an Eddie Van Halen disciple since the 6th grade. 5150 is the California code for a 72 hour psych hold, so he named his studio is called 5150, the seventh album is 5150 (which includes the title track "5150"), his EVH brand amps are called 5150's. I'f had trev5150 as my screen name pretty much since the beginning of the internet.

RIP, Ed. You were a lightning rod for God's own rock'n'roll.
