ChargePoint‘s App is what sealed the deal. I already had the App on my iPhone because it's useful for finding free chargers.

Just as a reminder when you opt for the Extended Range battery Ford includes the 80 amp Pro charger and will ship it to you early so it can be installed before you bring your Lightning home.

" ChargePoint Flex allows me to easily adjust amperage from the app too."
I think the NEC stopped that. Too easy to over current the install unless there is some other dedicated limit that software can't override.

Prior to the 2020 NEC, this wasn’t really addressed. Here is the new language for 2020:
Ford F-150 Lightning Get ready to charge your F-150 Lightning™ -- email link from Ford 88459BEA-BFB3-4520-906B-36B0BBF56DD7

It basically means that the highest user-selectable software setting must be hardware-limited to the associated circuit ampacity. If an EVSE isn’t capable of a hardware limit, the circuit must be capable of the maximum rating. It does not outlaw software control.
Only a handful of states have adopted the 2020 NEC.

As far as I know, the installer sets a configuration jumper in the ChargePoint that determines whether it’s plugged in or hard wired, and it only allows people to change the amps when it’s hard wired.

Interesting. I’m not sure why that matters.
Are you sure the jumper doesn’t just set the maximum amps?

I just checked the Home Flex installation guide... and I guess I was completely wrong. There is no switch.

They have a chart showing the maximum power settings for wired, vs both types of 240V plugs, and there is a LOT more power when wired, but it looks like there are no actual restrictions other than common sense stopping you from pushing it all the way to their max of 80A.

I set mine to 60A, because my electrician said that's all my circuit had available, which gives me about 36 miles for each hour plugged into a Mach-e.

Per the installation guide, the hard wired input can go up to 80A, but the output of the charger maximum is 50A. If hardwired for 60A maximum, the max output is to be set at 48A that is a minimal reduction from the 50A if a greater input circuit rating was available. From what I have read in the installation guide the installer is to place stickers that are provided with the charger on it that indicate the maximum input current of the circuit and the end user is to input this into the Chargepoint App control.

I just ordered one of the Chargepoint Home Flex EVSEs to replace the Chargepoint Home 25 (32A maximum) that I have and use with a Chevrolet Volt. The CPH25 will get moved to an outside wall on a new circuit so that I can park the Lightning in the garage.

The Flex is definitely one of the best out there. I LOVE their app. I get totals for my charging each session and each month (I‘m averaging $20 per month with average driving of about 1,000 miles per month).

Their app is pretty useful and I do like as you do how much is spent monthly in electricity to charge your EV. What I could not find definitive information on is how it handles in the app having two charging stations. It appears that you can give each station a different name, but it will not be real clear until I get the CPH Flex installed in addition to the CPH25 I already have.

It doesn't. You need to have a chargepoint account to use the app, and you can only have one charger per account. So you either have to constantly sign in and out on your device, or have 2 separate devices. In that respect, Wallbox Pulsar is better. Not only can you have multiple chargers, but you can set them up to share the same circuit.

I have a ChargePoint Home Flex purchased in March 2021. The settings are password protected in the app.
