Hey guys, I'm FINALLY starting this process with the Mongoose on a powerboost and I have yet to get anything updated, just got to the step where I have the toolbox open in FDRS and then I'm supposed to hook up the battery charger. I did that and I'm reading a low voltage - started at 11.9 and is now at 12.1 after waiting a while. I'm using an 8 amp charger. 2 questions - why the hell would my charge be so low on a new truck? I keep the key fob in the truck all the time, would that do it? Or is it a bad battery? I drive the truck every day. Also - is charging this thing at 8 amps going to take as long as I think it's going to? Maybe like 6 hours or so?
I initially got a 50% battery charge reading when I connected up the ProLogix charger/powersupply to mine, and it took maybe 5 minutes to get to full charge.

I would not attempt to do these updates without the minimum Pro-Logix PL2320 20A charger (or equivalent) to keep the voltage up while programming.

Keeping your fob in the truck would not cause the battery to drain as far as I know. Although it might be keeping it from going to sleep completely. Not sure on that.

I finally had a chance to spend the day yesterday with a Mongoose and FDRS license. I have a 2021 job 1 and was hoping to finally get BlueCruise.

I had about 15 updates to install. There was no APIM update listed. All of the updates installed successfully with the exception of a GSM update that won't seem to go away and my Instrument Cluster Module. It gave me the attached error and then the update disappeared from my list. My sync version is still revision 244.

I saw a previous poster had a very similar issue a couple weeks ago and reported it solved, but I'm not sure what the resolution was. Any ideas on how to keep moving my updates forward? Thank you!!

You are where several people were. The FDA is loaded. That’s actually a good thing because it’s the large file. The 188 should be fca and takes about 4-5 mins. You can try a PMI and see if it will now load the fca. If not we would have to side load that file. Yoo poop u won’t get any further until the cluster has the 188 is at fca

Are there any modules that are not safe to PMI at all?

You can PMI any module. You just want to be sure of the circumstances when you do.

Jesse, how does one go about side-loading? Is there a written procedure for this? Is it similar to the process used to UF the APIM that's stuck at 1.7.1?

I ended up getting a new battery charger and have been doing updates all day with no problems at all so far! But I just watched Slappy Mcgee's video and that was the first time I heard anything about taking trim off and unplugging something/using an adapter. I'm still not clear on what I need to buy to be able to do that - I thought all I needed was the 3.0 USB stick, as it doesn't say anything about adapters in the guide. Can someone shed some light on this for me please?

That procedure is only necessary if your APIM is stuck in purgatory and won’t execute USB updates. If your updates via USB are working you can skip that procedure.

It’s not something just anyone can do. No it’s different.

I am looking to get this done this week but of course can't find a mongoose-plus in stock anywhere.

Can someone answer if the CCB needs to be updated in order for me to get bluecruise working(2021 job 1 truck)? If so and I order the VCX nano I assume I am DOA?

I'm about to take a 1300 mile roadtrip (each way) and would kind of like bluecruise...

I've read the Nano has issues with the Cruise Control Module (CCM) and just based on the name I would assume that is needed for BlueCrusie.

Amazon has the Mongoose in stock and looks like you can get it by the weekend:

If you updated via the nano not only would you not have Blue Cruise, you'd lose cruise control completely. That would make your 1300 mile trip REALLY suck.

I tried updating the IPMA last night, fully expecting it to take 3+ hours, but it actually ran for about 9 hours - not kidding. Then at the end it said there was a error/it was unsuccessful. Pretty annoying. Did anyone else run into this error? Should I have updated something else prior to the IPMA? Prior to this I've updated the PCM, ABS, SOBDMC, BECM, CCM, PSCM and the CMR. Still plenty left to do lol.
