Where did the extra range (230 to 240) come from?

Anyone know for sure?

Different battery?
Adjusted tuning?
More testing?
For fun? :)

I'm guessing they just made the existing buffer smaller.

I'm a little surprised though as I thought the new trucks would be receiving LFP batteries which are less energy dense.

I'd guess it's from either removing some hardware remove weight like they did with the mach-e. Or motor controller tuning, or both. Or all of the above.

There could be any number of items... Tesla generated some extra range on early AWD models by changing the balance of the two motors. They could just open up more battery voltage range. They may have made the truck sleep earlier. We really don't know unless someone from Ford gets interviewed.

Ford has spoken. The EPA estimated range is up 10 miles due to (newly) standard heated seats (as already stated).

Seat heaters per Mike Levin on Twitter.

I read that tweet as well and find it pretty suspect IMO. EPA doesn’t have a separate winter and summer test protocol 😬.

If that's the case then why no changes to the ER?

Didn't all of the ER trims come with heated seats? Only the Pro and base XLT didn't have them.

yes that’s right.

But unless the EPA has a simulated winter or summer range estimate and then they take the average of the two, this make no sense.

It’s a bit illogical that by adding heated seats they can claim less energy usage by HVAC and therefore more total range. Sounds like some “loophole” math to me.

I find it hard to believe that heated seats suddenly improved range. I get that it’s HVAC related efficiency improvements but I don’t see how heated seats achieved that.

I live in a desert, unlikely I'll ever use the heated seat. Do I still get extra range?
