My truck got this error this weekend after towing 600miles and having to DC fast charge exclusively. I haven’t seen other show that the error was pointing to fault in the high voltage system.

There are a few threads on here with the same issue. Check your 12 volt battery connections.

My service center said I'm out of a truck for two weeks while they replace the Negative High junction box. I will have to do research if that is part of the high-voltage system or the 12V battery.

I got the same error the weekend before last. It only occurred 3 separate times after using different DC fast chargers. Turning the truck on and off cleared the error so I was never stranded. I did take it into the dealer this past Friday and they couldn't find anything wrong. I haven't had a chance or needed to use a DC fast charger since but will soon.

My Lightning has been with the dealer going on 4 weeks now. Had the alert 3 times and then had to get it towed. Had the truck for about 40 days. I did the whole 12 volt battery thing and it would work for a day and eventually just stopped working. According to the service department they said it’s the charging module that is defective and causing the fault. Long story short the part is back ordered with no delivery date in site. Dealer said they are trying to expedite with Ford HQ, but they are not budging. Dealer was hoping Ford would agree to pull the part from the assembly line and ship for replacement. I could be so lucky if that happens. In the meantime I am in rental that isn’t my truck. Love the truck, but worried this could go on for 2-3 months… possibly longer. I have seen others with similar issues but none have disclosed how it went once it got to the dealer.

@Ford Motor Company It should be an absolute priority to fulfill the repair parts supply stream even if that means a sacrifice or two from current production.

The alert reported can have many codes behind it. I know a couple of different repairs are being reported in this thread, but the actual DTC code you get might be helpful too. That has to be read from the computer via OBD, or your dealer will have it in your online profile. They truck uploads those DTC's / faults all the time. They know what the code is before you drive in.

Anyway - knowing the exact code associated to the repair and different threads for each truck/repair will help with history and searches here on the site.

It sounds like the high voltage battery junction box. I hope this doesn’t end being a widespread cluster like we’re seeing with the Mach-E.

I had the exact same thought. Not a good look for Ford if it hits both of their high profile EVs. That would indicate a major flaw in their design process / tools / models.

That said, we don't know how widespread this is.

Any update on this issue? I just got "Powertrain Malfunction/Reduced Power" error message on my XLT SR this morning. The truck drives fine and the error message eventually went away by itself but I still left the truck at dealership to get it checked out.

High voltage junction box needs to be replaced. Service manager said part should be delivered by Friday( I’ll see it when when I see it) so they will need until mid next week to do the swap.

Dealer is not able to get me a loaner I can tow with, so I’ll have to cancel my trip this weekend. Wish @Ford Motor Company could help making it possible to keep my plans and go on adventures I had planned with my new Lightning.

Thanks for the quick response, and good luck with your trip. I specifically asked my dealer to check high voltage battery junction box on my truck but will see if they find anything.

You need to just ask your dealer (and they already likely did) to read the DTC code that is set behind the scenes. That dash message is very generic and covers many codes. It might be the same, it might be very different. No need to chase a problem that doesn't exist just because someone else had it. You need your DTC code.
