Based on two years of Mach-E ownership, I’ve learned that Ford sends OTA updates by VIN, and it’s virtually impossible for us mere mortals to figure out which vehicles get updates and when. My car got a flurry of updates at the end of October which put me at the latest available. I haven’t gotten any since and am now way behind the latest. I’m pretty sure I don’t have a modem or connectivity issue - it’s simply how Ford operates. When it’s my turn, I’ll get more updates.
Thats good to know because I received an update a few days after I took delivery..then nothing. I just was wondering if I was missing something(or something was wrong) as I had not received the latest update(s) yet...

Finally took a minute to watch, have to agree with some of the whining. OTOH, you pay this kind of money for a truck, you expect it to work. I think the dealership that sold him the truck failed during PDI to verify a few things and make sure all the software was up to date. That could have tipped them off to some of the other issues had they done their part. Beyond that, I think it sucks he has problems, but schedule the truck for service. Which I'm sure he's done. I wonder if he'll post an update video after the problems are addressed...?
I don't believe it's part of the dealership PDI to check if software is up to date. Maybe it should be, but to fault the dealer for doing something they aren't required to do, and wouldn't get compensated for if they performed the updates, isn't fair.

Fair point, given the logistics issues, delays in transport etc, maybe it's time for a process analyst to consider making this a requirement, depending on the gap in time from built to delivery to dealership.

I just received my truck yesterday and my "Hands-free driving mode available" also says through "10-12-22". Is this an issue? I can't be for sure if Bluecruise works or not...I'm not sure if I figured out how to turn it on?

I haven't received any updates either.

Yes, you will not be able to use Bluecruise in hands free mode. I took delivery in late December and am in the same boat. Since this seems to be a widespread problem, I wonder if there is a glitch with their update process. Maybe the Bluecruise maps aren't updating OTA if an individual hasn't enabled Bluecruise in the app or something?

Ok - this is starting to make sense because I knew I was on Bluecruise highways and could not figure it out. I thought maybe it was active so kept taking my hands off wheel and it yelled at me to put my hands on the wheel.

What is the resolution?

I had the same problems with blue cruise, unless you want to buy an OBD2 connector and are comfortable using forscan or having someone do it, im not sure what the fix would be.

I experienced the same and figured it was because I was driving a dealer model for the weekend and maybe since it wasn’t connected to an app is why it wouldn’t work

While we're on the subject of issues on recent trucks is the 15" vertical screen supposed to burn your finger when you touch it? Every time I touch it it is VERY hot.

After all these glowing reviews, I'm not watching the video.

Go here and put your VIN, it’ll tell you if there is a Power update or Sync. At least that what the Ford Rep informed me.

https://www.ford.com/support/sync-maps-updates/
I looked at this and it told me there are updates available! (No s**t, I've not had one since 11/6.) "Connect to wifi by following this guide to activate immediate downloads" ...yeah, except that's entirely BS.

it’s simply how Ford operates. When it’s my turn, I’ll get more updates.
Getting this impression too after six months, but it doesn't excuse it. They set expectations they're entirely failing to meet and I can't do anything except go to the damn dealer to get an update, or potentially wait... a month? another year? One metric ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ ?

Stupid.

But thanks for the link @F150ROD, just makes me want to shake my fist more at @Ford Motor Company for the failure that is OTA updates.

I’m in the same boat. The link says I have updates pending but I have no idea on how to get it to update. I called Ford and they told me to check settings which I already set and still no update. My truck says it’s already up to date. I have had the truck since 11/11/22 and have yet to receive a single update. Ford has a lot of catching up in terms of software compared to Tesla. Software updates should not be this difficult.

The website says my Sync version is 4.0.22228. Is that the most current and reliable version?
My still on rail truck reports 4.0.22230 seems newer by few builds but not sure if there is anything newer.

It sucks that he has problems but everyone has to accept that these MY22-23 truck are new to Ford, new to us. There will be bugs Ford has to iron out.

If you're uncomfortable with being a test case, perhaps being an early adopter is not right for you
