Nothing new. John Denver got killed reaching behind him to change a fuel valve. He stuffed a rudder pedal and crashed his varieze airplane.

I tried it and decided not to use it. I constantly switch between my wife's ICE and my truck and I don't want to mess with my reflex so I can react correctly when stuff hits the fan.

I knew I didn’t like 1 Pedal. You’ve reinforced it.
Yeah, I've always hated it. No matter what, I've never been able to get used to it. Been off since day one and I always kill it in every EV I drive. Especially with the Lightning's blended braking, I really don't notice much loss in regen, but I gain much more control of my vehicle and I don't screw up my muscle memory for my non-EVs.

Approx. 1 month of ownership and I rear ended someone. It was wet, my shoes were wet. I was behind another truck waiting for the lights and I decided to reach back and grab the tissue box on the back seat. As I reached back, my foot slipped and hit the accelerator pretty hard. Truck had no chance to warn me. In my ICE truck, my foot would be on the brake. With 1-Pedal drive, I am now used to just hovering my foot on the accelerator. Not an excuse by any means as it's totally my fault.

No injuries to either party, thankfully, just a massive blow to the ego.

Insurance is going to cover the repairs however the body shop told me that the parts are hard to come by and I will likely have to wait weeks, if not months. In the meantime, the truck is drivable. As you can see it's mostly cosmetic from what I can tell (no frame damage).

While I am still able to drive the truck, my ACC/pre-collision/Blue Cruise is no functional because the sensor is dangling by the harness. The sensor itself is fine. The bracket that holds it is busted. Does anyone have access to the shop manual and maybe able to share the diagram with the part # of the bracket? I would like to use ACC/Blue Cruise, if I can secure the sensor to the back bracket (the plastic pieces are busted so it won't snap in place).

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Im glad you’re ok, and it looks like the truck is ok. I’m also glad your ego isn’t too big to admit what happened. Many other forums would see a post about how the car had sudden acceleration. You get a big thumbs up from me on this post

So if the “auto hold” is switched off and you’re in 1 pedal drive, will the truck come to a complete stop but inch forward at a stop light unless you use the brake pedal to hold it?

ive never used auto hold with one pedal and my truck stop’s completely when my foot is off the ‘gas’.

Not correct.

1PD invokes auto hold even if you have it (auto hold) switched off.

to be honest I hadn’t tried it. Just assumed. I had AH on in the settings. I haven’t tried it with it being off.

Don't get me wrong, I have really enjoyed 1-pedal drive. This was clearly my fault and I'll surely be more cognizant of the location of my foot.
Another reason other than I hate the 1PD:
I drive other cars at home & work that don't have 1PD.

At work, driving government vehicles and if I get a small fender bender requires me to have state police take a report, immediate test for drug/alcohol, and unable to drive work vehicles pending test results.

1PD would interfere with my driving other vehicles.
So not to confuse my muscle memory.....

I have developed the habit of placing my right foot on the brake pedal when stopped under one pedal driving. A few times my foot "hovering" over the accelerator pedal made very light contact with the pedal, and I discovered the truck inching forward toward the vehicle in front of it. No warnings or automated braking occurred. Placing my foot on the brake pedal tells the truck (and me) that I am stopped and I want it to stay that way until I take my foot off the brake pedal.

I need to do the same thing. I had my appointment this morning with the insurance collision centre. Got a great estimator and even agreed that he could put the Platinum grill on the truck if I want. I just have to pay the difference. Not sure if that's what I want but I have seen a platinum in person and the grill looks nice. It's shiny'er than the lariat. All OEM parts will be used. The truck will then go to a Ford Dealership for calibration. Fingers crossed everything goes well.

The adjuster also told me that the Canadian transport authority is investigating 1-pedal drive vehicles and their collision avoidance systems. Apparently, they've seen an influx of electric/phev vehicles that have similar things happen to them including sudden accelerations. My file will be forwarded to the authority. TBH I doubt anything will come out of it but hoping something does. Again, clearly my fault, but they did state the truck should've known that there is a vehicle in front. Idk about that.

Sorry to hear about the collision. This thread is an important reminder about OPD.

I love having the option, and typically do enjoy OPD in smaller vehicles but my truck is set to coasting (w/creep) 100% of the time. Nice as it is that Ford's OPD locks the vehicle, it can lead to events like this when the driver isn't careful. I actually prefer OPD to not lock because then the foot always goes back to the brake. It helps to reinforce muscle memory. Maybe that could be an option in a future software update?

Ultimately though coasting allows the vehicle to creep, so when maneuvering the truck the driver has only to ride the brake as it creeps into place. I wouldn't trust OPD (with the locking mechanism) to park a vehicle within inches of an object.

In the past I had another coasting vehicle that would roll freely in either direction of the selected gear, so I do want to commend Ford for the thoughtful implementation of these systems.

I believe this may be the case now, but I'm about 99.5% sure it wasn't always like this. When I got my truck last July I turned on 1PD and it did not hold. I had to go find the Hold switch. They may have changed the behavior to now be Auto Hold on with 1PD and truly that is the only way it makes sense, they go together.
