Gaining access to the Superchargers and commitment to move to NACS I also predict Ford will move the charging port to the back drivers side. I'm kind of surprised they didn't make that move for the '24's, but I guess they will save it and do it all at once. If they don't for the Lightning I would expect it on the T3 for sure. It'll just make integration easier.

This will just leave those of us with this version of the truck to battle the charger situation.

I think if they move it in the near future, and I don't think it a certainty, they'll just swap sides of the vehicle. A front passenger charge port instead of driver solves the supercharger problem.

I think if they move it in the near future, and I don't think it a certainty, they'll just swap sides of the vehicle. A front passenger charge port instead of driver solves the supercharger problem.
I think the 24 has eliminated the passenger side opening & blank cover, 22 & 23 might be able to accomodate a retrofit if the HVAC module isn't in the way.

They already have it for Europe.

I’m definitely a forgetful one and have a habit of leaving our unpowered charge port door open. I appreciate being able to simply stand on the running boards and being able to reach over the door and close the charge port door.

I would absolutely hate having to walk around to the other side to close it.

Front makes more sense to allow towing since there are still very few pull through spots. And passenger front is better for those that use L2 street chargers so they are not parked the wrong way.

Looks like that European model has a “gas cap” like cover for the upper part of charge port.

Hadn't even thought of the street charging. I mean, there's lots of driver-convenience reasons having it on the driver side makes sense. But, if US public L2 infrastructure ever begins to catch up with Europe, the passenger side is going to be the sweet spot.

I absolutely love the way they've built out lamppost and other curbside charging availability in many European cities.

Perhaps an opportunity for an aftermarket NACs port on the passenger side in addition to our current CCS port on the driver's side. Ford already has the hatch parts from the Euro version so it wouldn't be much of a stretch. Probably wishful thinking.

Now we know it's possible to fit into the body cavity, would be great to get CCS1 version on that side, I don't care if I have to walk a few more steps around the truck.

I wish they had charging ports on both sides. It's just a little bit more wiring but makes charging solutions more flexible. Also prevents one side of my truck getting cooked in the summer sun while the other side is in the shade

Why can’t EVs have multiple charging ports, such as one in opposite corners? Makes no sense to me. What is so sacred about a port? Imagine if houses had only one electrical outlet?

the point is: no matter 'where' you locate the 'charge port', owners will complain that it doesn't fit 'their' needs... there will always be a reason to complain.. we all do, but I also complained where my fuel door was on all the vehicles I've ever owned, ESPECIALLY back in the day when it was BEHIND the License Plate!

our first motorhome had it's gas fuel door at the driver's side near the rear, WHAT a pain to try 'guess' if you are close enough to the fuel hose in a 40' motorhome! Try negotiating that in a 'regular' gas station!
our second motorhome, a diesel pusher, had the diesel fuel door EXACTLY where the Lightning's is: right in front of and next to the DRIVER... EASY! I never had any problem 'guessing' if the hose would reach...

now, to expand even farther, I actually DELIVERED motorhomes to dealers from the factories, back in '17/18' timeframe, of all sorts of lengths, brands, makes, models, and fuel/engines... gas AND diesel. I can almost assuredly tell you that DIESEL, believe it or not, was a LOT easier to refuel... of course, too, you have the option of using not only the 'regular' pumps in the retail area, but you also can use TRUCK STOP pull thrus... where the 'big boys' in their SEMI Truck/Trailers go... but, I'll also tell you that I RARELY ever did that, the truck stop lanes are SO dirty, nasty, greasy, just NOT what you want to be walking thru when getting back in your 'precious' motorhome... or someone else's future NEW motorhome...

the WORST fueling door location was the motorhomes that touted 'Easy Fueling...' ... although, it was quite literally the OPPOSITE: the middle of the rear of the motorhome(Gas versions)... while on the surface you might buy into this 'idea'... it really is MUCH hard to 'guess' that your motorhome's tail is 'close enough' to the gas hose, and yet, you are parking WELL OUT into the traffic lanes, especially in the longer 30-40' variety... few new owners think about this during the purchase decision... it's just the FUN that later comes with owning a motorhome, during your 'first' fueling event! Now, also, try REACHING the middle/center of a huge motorhome with the 'standard' gas hose.... aint' nice. : /

we are all going to have differing viewpoint on the 'charge port' location. You are never going to satisfy everyone... just look at Teslas... you HAVE to back your vehicle in to park at a Supercharger. I will tell you that they LOVE other charging options, like CCS, if not for the sole fact that they don't HAVE to back in! Ask any new CYBER truck owner if they would 'like' for their charge port to be in the 'rear', while towing their camper or trailer... NOT!

Is this a right hand drive truck in Europe? If so there may be a lot more hardware swapped from left to right side than just the charge port. This charge port may still be on the "drivers" side of the car.

I guess the correct question to ask is do European Tesla's that are right hand drive have the charge port in the same location as US Tesla'?

And here I thought I was the only one that... distracted?

How 'bout they remove the silly gear shift knob and repurpose that effort into a remote charge port closer? :)
