I work the midnight shift. And there is nowhere to plug the truck in while doing a 10-hour shift. Overnight the temp was in the single digits. I did warm the cabin up before I left for my hour drive home. The GOM really went down fast as the truck was probably trying to warm the battery. The gauge showed it was not even 1/2 way to normal temp. And never did get there. Would it be worthwhile to bring a small generator and plug the truck in, say for an hour before I leave, just to warm the battery up. Not for charging? Any advantage, battery health maybe. Let me know.

No, as long as you can make the round trip, focus on the departure timed conditioning while plugged in when you're home, that will mitigate the situation.

Not worth it at all. 120v doesn't help.

Yeah, makes it no problem. Even charging to 80%. Had to park outside of the garage this morning. So much snow packed under the truck, it would melt in my garage and flood it. Plugged in outside on my 48v level 2 with extension cord. Charging to 90% . Gives me a little more cushion. Thanks.

Just FYI, charging to 90% is actually charging to 80% for battery health purposes. So keep it charged to 90%. The reason is the battery is actually a 145 kwh battery and downrated to 131

48a on a cord?

Just use the departure time setting while plugged in overnight.
It is a level 2 extension. This is during the day when I'm at home.

The 14-50 plug is rated for 50a, which is 40a max. I have yet to see a 48a plug but ya never know what they sell on amazeon now.

So far has worked great. Used only when I can't pull the truck in my garage.

I have an energy monitor in the shop that monitors the EV charger, I notice that plugging in the Truck when I come home, the energy monitor indicates less than 1 kW going to the truck prior to the set charging time (11PM to 7AM) so just plugging in the truck, it's taking advantage of available 'shore power' to maintain battery temps by the look of the power flowing.
Checking the FordPass app Energy Session it shows the truck is at a Charge Rate of <1kW, and "Waiting to charge at 11 PM" which is my pre-set charging time for ToU low overnight rate.

If you have access to any 120volt outlet a L1 charger can supply the "<1kW" of temperature maintenance power - to hold the battery temperature, prior to a pre-sent charging schedule.

I am currently in -10 C to -20 C (14F to -4F) temperatures. seems like low cost to maintain temperatures of the battery pack. ToU rate here is 2.9cents/kWh overnight.
Sure nice to get in a preheated cabin in the morning, without burning gasoline.

That is exactly what is happening, my Emporia log, shows a 2 am spontaneous session using about 2 kWh of energy over a 13 minute period of time, then this afternoon just after 2 pm, I plugged in and again the cold soaked battery was warmed for 12 minutes with 2 kWh of additional energy.

BTW, the 7:46 to 8:01 am session was for 15 minutes of remote climate start.
