As an interim solution try running a fan on it while it’s charging. It might give it just enough cooling to avoid the overheating.

Or derate it down to a lower amperage, that’ll reduce the heat level within the charger

that’s a better solution but I don’t know if the poster feels comfortable getting into the box.

Is it toggle switch or app based to adjust the amperage? I assumed you could change it via Wi-Fi

Hmmm…i assumed it was in the box, toggle or jumper, but I don’t know for certain. Derating in an app would definitely be the preferred interim fix.

NEC was supposed to be changed to disallow any software changing of current. The only safe way is to use some jumper or switch pack that one has to access inside. We assume that one knows how to secure power before they attempt this.

I tried starting a chat session with support in the FordPass app and they gave me a number to call. It was the marketing department, they forwarded me to the FordPass department, but it turned out to be the Lincoln department. They forwarded me to the EV department, but it turned out to be the marketing department. They then forwarded me to the Lightning department, which turned it to be the customer satisfaction department. I'm getting no where with their support.
Yes.. I had that exact same thing happen when I was trying to get the charger shipped to me.. Passed around 7 times.. The marketing department is who you want for anything Lightning related at the end of the day. Even if they tell you it isn't the right department.

My understanding is that the maximum is set in the evse and then it can be used selectable up to the maximum. It would not be safe to have 8g wiring and have it user selectable over 32 amp, but there is no reason why someone should not be able to turn it down to 24 or 16 amps in the app.

As a product development engineer, it’s kind of crazy to me that they designed this charger with a max ambient operating temp of 113F. It’s designed to be installed in locations where you could regularly see ambient temps over 113 in certain parts if the country. Design temp should be 150ish.

Good news is that I charged my truck today to 90% and got no error messages.

This is exactly correct.

Whisky, Tango, Foxtrot!!! You're in Quebec, right? What hope do those of us in Arizona have? Personally, I would not find this acceptable, and initiate warranty replacement.
Yes i'm in Quebec.

Did some testing last night by setting the max amp to lower...
