You can buy a whole other brand charger for the price of a replacement cable for the FCSP!

The FSCP is a dinosaur now. Few if any want Home Backup and even if they do, Ford/Sunrun can't make it work in many cases. The '24+ MYs dropped the 2nd onboard charger, so it can only charge at 48A...so there is no point in an 80A charger, especially with a full CSS plug. For the price of the 24' replacement cable you might find a complete new in the box FCSP for similar money these days
I've been looking to pick up another one. I can't find them for anywhere near it. Every time I bid on one on eBay, it jumps right before it ends. For the price of the 24' replacement cable you might find a complete new in the box FCSP for similar money these days
I think a lot of people would like to have the home back up! I think the main problem is the cost of the system not to mention the problems people have had getting it to work and keeping it working. I think in the future, you will want the 80 amp and I would imagine they will design one with the NACS when they switch to it.The FSCP is a dinosaur now. Earlier this Summer when I got the plug stuck in the charger, I bought a Charge Station Pro for $600. My recommendation is to purchase one that is sealed in an unopened box. Also, look at the part number label and try to get the most recent part number revision and build date possible. For the price of the 24' replacement cable you might find a complete new in the box FCSP for similar money these days
I've had EVs for 10 years and no, I don't think I'll ever need an 80A EVSE for any reason. I charge my Lightning Lariat ER on a 40A and it's never an issue to get the charge I need overnight. In addition, Ford dropped the 2nd onboard charger in the '24 lineup, so an 80A charger does you no good as all you can use is 48A and there are a ton of 48A capable EVSEs at 1/3 the price point. The only vehicle on the road that would have a problem charging overnight is the 200kWh pack on the EV Hummer.I think a lot of people would like to have the home back up! I'm in the process of getting quotes for ground-mount solar (rooftop isn't an option unless I want to cut a lot of trees) with 20kwh of battery backup.... I could buy another truck for the lowest quote and still have $20k to pay for electricity. Really want the solar, but yowsers!I've had EVs for 10 years and no, I don't think I'll ever need an 80A EVSE for any reason. It's not that I don't want battery backup, but I need a system that is reliable and affordable. Considering the horror stories for installation, outrageous installation prices, plus forced contracting with SunRun is a poison pill too far for me. I will either wait for Emporia's solution that promises to be less than 1/2 the cost of the Ford backup solution (and will actually work) or forget the storage in the truck all together and just put in rooftop solar + battery backup system. I don't need 131kWh on tap if I have panels on the roof, I need 10kWh. Plus, I am really more interested in peak-shaving as I live in a major metro where I pay through the nose during the day for Time-of-Use electricity rates. I can't peak-shave when I'm not home with the truck.
20kWh of battery back up can be very expensive depending on who you go with!I'm in the process of getting quotes for ground-mount solar (rooftop isn't an option unless I want to cut a lot of trees) with 20kwh of battery backup.... Yep, using EnergySage. The batteries are 20% of the total cost, so I'm still up in the air whether to just go without and use my truck as needed.20kWh of battery back up can be very expensive depending on who you go with!
Don’t know if you have tried using energysage.com to get quotes?
What kind of quotes are you getting ballpark?Yep, using EnergySage. The batteries are 20% of the total cost, so I'm still up in the air whether to just go without and use my truck as needed.
Low quote with 23kwh (usable) of Powerwall 3s is $112k (net $78k after tax credits), without the batteries $84k (net $59k) - includes upgrading my service to 320a, upgrading my barn/workshop from 100a to 150a and running wires for my FSCP.What kind of quotes are you getting ballpark?
I guess we have an advantage as we are in a mostly sunny state (Texas) and a gazillion installers!
That is absolutely insane unless they’re installing gold plated panels!Low quote with 23kwh (usable) of Powerwall 3s is $112k (net $78k after tax credits), without the batteries $84k (net $59k) - includes upgrading my service to 320a, upgrading my barn/workshop from 100a to 150a and running wires for my FSCP.
The other quote is laughable at over $200k
Hy home and workshop are both surrounded by trees. I have a field beyond the trees that has a clear view to the south and west. Ground mount is my only option. That is absolutely insane unless they’re installing gold plated panels!
Have you tried Tesla? I don’t think they will do the ground mount though.
Have you thought about putting them on your workshop?
