How long did it take you?
I think overall it took me about 5 hours. Adding the pins took a while, but other than that it was pretty quick.

Sorry if this is common knowledge, but can you elaborate on this front parking sensor update?
@rio there was a Ford recall, actually a consumer satisfaction program (CSP), that suggested to updated the software for the front parking sensors. I didn't have any issue with these sensors but I had the software updated anyway.

Thanks for contributing and putting the read all 35 pages first. If everyone did that, they would probably succeed without having to ask any questions.

I've been eyeballing Comma AI since long before I even had this truck. I get this forum and the Gen14 forum mixed up sometimes, but I have seen some people doing it but no real DIY comprehensive thread like this specifically for the XLT Lightning (Sync 4a). Is there one that I'm missing? If not let's start one, I'm ready to do it. But I think 2 or more of us should do it at the same time and draft the DIY and all edit and refine it before posting once. Maybe we can eliminate a lot of headaches that have been caused here by the many variants of ways/opinions to do things.
Iā€™ve been talking to other guys about comma ai for the ford lightning, unfortunately we found it itā€™s not compatible with 2024 models of the lightning and some 2023 Mach-E. Right now you need a 2022-2023 model with the adaptive cruise control either factory or added like we did here and you need the Q4 ford harness from Comma ai which then needs to be modified to get rid of errors when booting comma ai interface. There is a thread here which explains how to modify the harness.

Who, where, are you talking about this. I'd love to join the conversation. I find it crazy if this is truly the case. Has to be just one or two CAN PID's that keep it from working if so b/c the design and hardware hasn't changed.

Were you able to find any other info on this? I've been getting more and more intrigued by some of the numbers on a lariat but this and one post in the discord group are the only sign I've seen about the 2024s.

NVM found ajzrides post in the comma thread.

Started the project of adding ACC/LKA to my 2024 Pro with 9.6kW ProPower, max tow, tow tech, ext range battery, and 360 cameras today. I decided to do this in two steps over two days. I do not have any wires in the IPMA, so I am following @Azgunguy, @rio (post 430), @ZSC100, and @KurtsRPMGarage methods or running the 4 wires from the new CCM to the IPMA. Thanks to @Brotato for starting this thread and @hturnerfamily for his separate post and guide as well.

Today was building the harness with the correct colored wires, installing the new steering wheel switch with the following distance adjustment button, and adding the new pins and cable pigtails to the IPMA plug.

I just did a test drive after those steps to make sure that I didn't bork anything. The new switch doesn't control anything - no volume, regular cruise, or "regular" lane keeping from the new buttons. I expected that the "old" functions would still work, but since they don't, I wanted to make a post in case anyone else splits this project over multiple days. My assumption is that the new switch needs all of the forscan adjustments in place before it will work. Fingers crossed šŸ¤ž

Tomorrow my plan is to do the bumper removal to add the new CCM radar unit and run the new cabling, do all of the final wire connections, and then do the forscan adjustments.

Wish me luck!

Yep, a single change in the SCCM needs to be made to specify the new button part you installed. You can do it in easy mode of FORScan actually. Good luck, we're here if you run into any issues, but sounds like you've done good enough research to make it ok.

I am at the Forscan part of this project and I can't get the CCM to show up.

I have 12+volts at the CCM on pins 3 and 4 of the CCM harness and I have done the IPMA change of 706-02-02 04 to 05 referenced in other posts to turn the CCM on, but still it won't show up on reboots and reconnects. I am reloading Forscan each time, not saving a profile.

Suggestions?

TIA

Check polarity and placement of the CAN wires.

Finished programming and calibration. Still no ACC or LKA, so I'm waiting like others have said in the thread to see if everything magically appears after sitting overnight.

I do have a "Front camera fault service required" and "Pre-collision assist not available" messags that come across the display with an audible warning every few minutes, and my glare free lights are gone. In fact, it's manual hi/low only now, no auto hi/low or glare free. I assume it's related to the camera error.

If anyone that is familiar with this installation has any ideas for the next steps to work through the errors, please let me know.

I will try to reprogram the glare free tonight.

Worst case, I'll load all of the backups in Forscan and start over if the ACC and LKA doesn't show up and if the error codes can't be diagnosed.

Thank you for all of the assistance so far.

Did you come out today to good news with the truck or were you still running into issues? I dont recall getting the Front Camera or Pre Collision faults after coding everything in, though.

Bad news... šŸ˜ž

I reverted all of my forscan changes back to normal as I have a 4 hour drive today and didn't want to deal with the constant errors. Since I already installed the new switch on my steering wheel, I don't have any cruise control. If I can't get this project to be a success, I just need to swap back to my old switch.

I had an "incompatible configuration" error in one of my IPMA forscan changes that I need to investigate. I will be reaching out to this thread once I have time to get all of the correct information. I just have to drive my son today.

Thank you for asking.

Once you revert all your module configs to factory If you're trying to troubleshoot you can go change the one setting for the steering wheel buttons in the SCCM to make the buttons work.
