Of course... got it. Thanks.

I have my truck since early July 2024... following this thread because I just got my free FCSP wall box and am about to get it installed for the 80-amp TOU charging benefit, which will work very well with my ER battery and my schedule.

I didn't fully realize when I bought the XLT ER just how large this battery is... with my 8-hour TOU low cost charging setup at home, those 8 hours weren't enough to refill the ER battery with the 40-amp wallbox I now have.

Nonetheless, if there turn out to be long-term quality problems with the FCSP I want to know now before I pay for the 3-gauge installation and circuit panel work.
The wiring is still required for any other evse of the same current. Don't worry, the fcsp has a warranty and considering most ER trucks came with one there are way less complaints. It doesn't like to push 80a in 120degree sun.

Also, if you find yourself actually needing 80a to get your charge everyday then you are on the fringe of normal use.

A real world scenario for me is that my electricity has a peak / off peak / and super off peak tier . I need to charge starting at midnight and then leave for work at 6:00am ( which is also when the tier changes ) So I'm close to 80,000 miles since June 2022 so I regularly come home to 20% SOC every night and I charge to 90% so the 80 amp charger and the 2022 lariat er with dual on board chargers makes a huge difference for me.

I know I'm close to fringe based on the miles already on my truck , but I'd also argue that my situation doesn't seem like it couldn't apply to many drivers out there.

Also: update - going through the paces with Ford for a warranty replacement. As usual the Ford team does a great job with Ford team members here on the forums looking out for us. While it's been annoying ( and seriously so expensive) to have to DC fast charge daily , I'll live while the issue is resolved.

Itā€™s worth the cost - which was about $550 for me but it was an easy install. Thatā€™s said, parts wear out. Iā€™d have to pop the cover off but I thought that the cord is torqued down to bolts inside, which should mean a relatively easy replacement.

Congratulations on your purchase!

People come here to complain about their broken trucks. An extremely small number of trucks break but a surprisingly large number of owners whose trucks break talk about it here. This doesn't mean your truck will break. What it does mean is this is the place to come if your truck breaks.
This made me laugh way more than was necessary.

In your photo it looks like the metallic female sockets on both sides (DC+ and DC-) have broken and/or been pushed back out of position in the plug handle. I have attached a photo of my FCSP charger plug for comparison. I don't know if the plug is a serviceable part, but if not, hopefully a replacement cable is available as a part.

After seeing this the other day, I looked at mine and forgot to take a picture. So I took one tonight and Iā€™m curious if others looking at my picture think that my DC pins look slightly pushed in? Perhaps a design flaw or my imagination?

OK, I feel better nowā€”LOL
The other picture looked like they were all the way out to the edge like the upper pins!
I think it was just the angle. Mine look like yours as well.

Can anyone tell me what kind of screws are in the charging handle / coupler? I thought they were torx tamper resistant 10 but looks like I was wrong. Not the torx 20 in the charger station . The actual handle/coupler . Think of it as your holiday gift to a stranger.

Based on other owners' photos, I took another look at my charger plug. The straight-on view in my photo does indeed make the ends of the connectors appear to be near the top of the plastic surround. The ends of the DC connectors are actually like the photos posted by others. The attached photo shows measurement of the connector ends at a depth of about 3/4" from the face of the plastic surround.

Comparing your pic to his, it looks like all of his AC pins are missing. That whole handle is no good and needs to be replaced.
Yeah, wait for the price tag on that.

$599
https://usa.evchargeplus.com/shop/o...-connector-level-3-dc-cable-fast-charge-200a/

$500 from Ford direct

$300 - if you're willing to eBay it

Even $300 on Alibaba

I'd be hitting Ford up on warranty to see if you can get anything. The FCSP does come with a 3-year warranty, so even if you're a bit over the line, maybe they'll throw you a bone. These things, even with abuse, shouldn't be failing like that during home use in 3 years.

EDIT:

Oh, you said ALMOST 3 years. Ok then, DO NOT DELAY and file a warranty claim now!

https://chargers.ford.com/warranty

Plus another thought, hopefully you bought it on your credit card. If you did with a Visa or Mastercard, making the purchase doubles your warranty up to one additional year. So if you did, you have a 4-year warranty...and you may want to wait. If Ford denies your claim saying it is not a covered failure, then wait until the Ford warranty actually expires. Then contact Visa or MC, not the bank, but the actual brand and explain that the device failed. Their most common approach is to have you get it repaired, charge the repair to that same card, and they will credit you for that repair.

A lifetime ago I had a PlayStation 3 that died 1 week out of warranty. Sony told me GFY on any leniency on the timeline. Flat-fee repair with Sony was $199 plus shipping. I filed with Visa and they paid for the whole thing.

If worse comes to worse, Iā€™ld recommend you look at the Grizzl-e 80 amp charger as a replacement.
