@tommolog

Yes!
Tom is very correct this is the way charging should be incentivized! @tommolog thank you for being a forward thinking advocate for EV owners. I look at it kind of like my cell phone. I use it all day and then charge it while I sleep and it is full in the morning when I wake up and go about my day.

Complimentary installation is a nice touch, but the FCSP is still not a great option. It's overkill since most new owners (2024's) can't take advantage of the 80 amps. And FordPass is awful for connecting to it. I haven't been able to change my charge rate since before 5.0 came out. Maybe Ford has a back log they need to get rid off?
Zprime29,

Hereā€™s a thought experiment for 2024 Lightning owners who ā€œneedā€ (I donā€™t) the 80A charging speed for their Lightning lifestyle. Could a second charger be added?

I know most things can be done with enough money thrown at them, but could this be a reasonable modification? Someone must have tried this already. šŸ«£

Just DocuSigned my purchase tonight to get the incentives that expired 9/30. Won't pickup my Lightning until tomorrow. Looks like they may have dropped the 0% 60 month financing, so I'm probably better off anyway. You can get a $2000 incentive instead of taking the charger and installation and there's a $1000 retail incentive, but it appears no 0% unless they add that back in by morning. So the 1.9% interest blows the whole deal compared to the September incentives even after taking the $3000 in new incentives.

I got to attend the media briefing that Ford gave on this program last week, very exciting! I think itā€™ll drive adoption and help convert some of the skeptics and people that are hesitantā€¦ and more EV adoption benefits everyone!

I made sure to ask how the Ford Power Promise will help current Ford EV owners. The program is obviously geared towards new buyers, but Ford said we can also take advantage of the 24/7 customer support and improved roadside assistance.

We can register at: http://owner.ford.com/

PS ā€” I assume Ford invited me because Iā€™m help run the Midwest F-150 Lightning Owners Clubā€¦ getting access to these kinds of events is another reason to join and be active in your local club!
I logged onto the owner page you linked and am not seeing where to register. Is this something in addition to having the owner account, which I set up when I bought my Lightning?

Extremely helpful, I hope other EV manufacturers follow suit.
Iā€™m glad this is a Ford thing, and not a taxpayer funded thing. My hat is off to the guys at Ford for following through on this.

A couple have asked here, I don't think it will be possible. Even if you add the hardware, you'd then need to update the BMS to manage the extra charger. It's a tall order and really not much gained for the effort. 48A charging really is quite adequate. The only times I like having the 80A are if I forget to plug in at night after a long day and wake up to a 30% or less battery. Often still enough range for my daily commute but I don't like pushing it below 15% so that extra bit of power is nice for a quick bit of extra go juice.

As far as future proofing is concerned. What happens if your next EV comes with NACS? Rip out FCSP and install a new charger?

Isn't there an adapter for level 2 [J1772 to NACS] ?
I'd assume the Tesleratti have this all figured out eons ago.

There is such an adapter (and it's not expensive), but as has been posted here, Tesla owners haven't been able to to make FCSP work with them.

Ford should just send a new cord. Screw an adapter. Thatā€™s bogus. In the end, the cord with the NACSJ wouldnā€™t be that much more.

Itā€™s a redirect to the Ford support page linked to your Ford account. If you logged in and can see your vehicle information and the support options and links, then I think thatā€™s it.

Iā€™m sure weā€™ll get nay-sayers on this but this will certainly help drive adoption. From the Farley letter:

ā€Nearly 90% of shoppers say they would be more likely to buy an electric vehicle if they knew they could charge at home. [...] Problem is nearly half of them donā€™t know how home charging works. Where do you buy the charger? Who installs it? What does it cost?ā€œ

I agree customers would be better served with a different charger. Iā€™m so much happier with my Emporia over the FCSP I used for a year and sold. They must have a warehouse full of them.
Agreed. The FCSP is honestly kinda a nightmare. I bought my truck "used" (400 miles on it) in 2022. At the time, I was lamenting not getting the FCSP, but the more I learned about it, the less I felt like I was missing out. I have had an Autel unit since day one and it's been great. 80A charging would be great, but I don't have enough overhead on my electric service to even make that possible.

Hi F-150 Lightning owners,

EDIT (10/1/24)
Today weā€™re excited to share a new initiative, as part of our commitment to making electric vehicle ownership even better. We're introducing the Ford Power Promise, a comprehensive program designed to address the needs of our electric vehicle customers and provide confidence every step of the way ā€“ whether a customer is curious about electric vehicles, itā€™s their first day of ownership, or like many in this forum, have been driving an F-150 Lightning for some time.

Think of the Ford Power Promise as a one-stop shop for everything you need when you go electric. Weā€™ve grouped all the things customers love about Ford electric vehicle ownership under one umbrella, with some new offerings starting October 1st. Check back in to this post on October 1st, the day the Ford Power Promise goes live, to view our Ford Power Promise webpages, containing all the key info you need for this announcement.

For Current and New Ford Electric Vehicle Owners Weā€™re Providing:
  • Ongoing Support and Guidance:
    • New 24/7 live support: We're expanding ā€˜round-the-clock live support, including proactive charging assistance. Text a dedicated Ford advisor for 24/7 electric vehicle support, and you'll be talking to real people. Simply opt-in to Fordā€™s Electric Vehicle 24/7 Live Support services on owner.ford.com if youā€™d like to use the feature.
    • Improved Ford Roadside Assistance: Ford Roadside Assistance will now pick up Ford electric vehicle customers and take them to the closest charging station or dealership if range runs too low. Available for both Mustang Mach-E and F-150 Lightning owners. For more information on how to use this feature, please visit the Ford Roadside Assistance page.

For New Ford Electric Vehicle Owners this also includes:
  • Home is Where the Charge Is:
    • New complimentary home charger & standard installation: Starting October 1st, 2024, customers purchasing or leasing a new Ford electric vehicle will receive a complimentary Ford Charge Station Pro and standard installation at their home, helping to take the guesswork out of installation costs. Check out the Ford website for more details.
What Else?

Weā€™re constantly updating our existing programs with software, and hardware, to expand access and make them even better. Here are some items included in the Ford Power Promise that you may already be familiar with:
You can also read a letter from Ford CEO Jim Farley on the Ford Power Promise here.

The Ford Power Promise is designed to make the Ford electric vehicle ownership experience smooth and enjoyable, so you can focus on what matters most ā€“ the open road!

Happy driving!
What a fun evening of phone calls I had. Iā€™ve posted once in this thread, and wanted @Ford Motor Company to hear about my experience. I bought my F150 Lightning on Sept. 16. Iā€™ll start by saying that I fully understand that I bought before this promotion. I really do. I just expected more of Ford in that I, and probably some others, purchased a truck two weeks too early and to hear me out. Instead, Iā€™ve been lied to and given the run around.

I originally called customer service when I found out about this on this forum. I explained when I bought. I was told that all I had to do was call my dealership and they would provide me a code to get in on this. Iā€™m not making this up, itā€™s exactly what was told to me. So today I called my dealership. And told them that. The sales managers exact words were, ā€œWhat the fuckā€. He then when on a few minute tirade a lot how Ford customer service will tell any customer anything they want to hear to get them off their backs and then blame everything on the dealerships and put it back on them to take care of things. He told me that there is nothing the dealership can do (which I expected). I called customer service back and informed them of that response. They were unaffected by that. I then spent another half hour on the phone all to be told that thereā€™s nothing they can do. I already purchased and that there is absolutely nothing they can do. The person said if they could they would, but there is nothing they can do. I get I missed it, but there is something they could do, and they are just choosing not to because Iā€™ve already purchased, so therefore Ford has no reason to make me happy. Iā€™m already bought in. Since Ford has my money they have no incentive to go a bit beyond. The best the person at customer service could do was put in a negative comment about the lie about a code being available for someone in my situation.

If I was a potential customer, which I was when the dealership led by saying that he was sure he could get me a free charger for my home, things would be different. Of course that offer was off the table once I agreed to buy.

Just disappointing to see a company not do a little extra for a customer who just made quite a big purchase. Those chargers are basically obsolete anyways. They literally have to give them away to get rid of them. Two weeks too early to have the benefit of having fun.

Iā€™m sure there will be no response, but thought others might be interested in this.
