The road trip last night was uneventful, no codes, wrenches or poor performance, with the well conditioned battery and cabin, the first half of the trip ran efficiently at 1.8 MPK, speeds were 65-70 mph mostly highway, as the evening concluded my ride home averaged 1.4 MPK under colder conditions 25° along the reverse route.

Round trip average 1.6 MPK

Sunday morning woke up to 30°, it got milder overnight, the battery was plenty warm enough from the charging for 4 hours to get to 90%, I didn't need the extra 5% I loaded just in case my consumption rate was below 1.4 MPK.

The charge session had typical efficiency with the heat in the pack at a perfect balance to the cold outside, while driving home I targeted a DCFC, but didn't go there to charge, just to make sure the pack temp was optimized for slow AC charging.

The energy spent preconditioning and spontaneous warming while staying plugged in each night is worth it if you're looking to get peak performance from the pack and motors.

On the other hand, if you are doing 10 to 20 miles daily as I typically do which don't require peak performance, letting the pack chill during the week saves the extra costs.

This week I averaged 35.3 cents a mile for 171 miles traveled, with a 1.0 MPK considering total energy consumed.

Lastly, the old truck 2012 PSD at 15 MPG with fuel costing $3.339 this week would have cost me $38.06 to drive 171 miles

Well I just realized how inefficient charging on level 1 in moderate cold can be. Going from 76-88% took 20 hours and used almost 30kWh according to the outlet monitor while Ford Pass only showed 15kWh. Temp was in the 30's last night but it sat unplugged for a couple days so battery was probably fairly chilled.

You're spending a lot of juice on keeping the battery warm and fuzzy.

I caught mine spontaneously warming the battery and fires up the black box at which time the battery was in the mid 40s.

yup. Will be glad when I'm back to my FCSP. In hindsight, I could've held off on that little bit of extra charge since I didn't need to go as far as I thought but was interesting to see just how much energy it goes to warming things up. Guess my truck needs a heated blanket.
