Lightning Software Updates using FDRS

Have any '23 models gotten that IPC update yet? I thought that went out to '22 models only so far. That's been a complaint for quite some time now.

The BCM update is a prereq for Walk-Away Locking. But outside of that, it's not a prereq for anything else that I'm aware of.

Yes. At least according to the 6.8 OTA thread they have.

Fair enough...I wonder what else could be holding things up.

Are you going to get the dealer to do your BCM? Since apparently that's the only way to get that one updated right now. I guess they aren't allowing "Independents" to update that anymore.

If it doesn’t come OTA I’m not sure what other choice I have. Assuming I can even convince a dealer to do it.

I don't think they're really sending out much in the way of up-to-date OTAs right now. #Strugglebus

Agreed. I wish @rugedraw lived closer to me. I’d go visit him for an afternoon sometime

Nothing other than catch up for the '23's. The '22's haven't had anything since early April. Nothing.

My '22 hasn't had anything since last October. Still waiting for 6.1...I feel like one of my kids when I send them to their room for fighting and then forget to tell them they can come back out.

I don't think you are alone, but just crazy that Ford can't do a SQL query in their DB to see they haven't pushed the updates to all trucks, or they have some problem and can't push to all. Just makes no sense.

Yeah, @rugedraw has checked my vin. Truck is communicating just fine, Ford just has a giant hole in their OTA safety net (assuming there is one). All spare funds are going to the Disney trip in Sept. Will probably treat myself to a mongoose for my birthday this fall.

I’ve found that even a mongoose can’t fix everything. Not just the BCM problem, but if Ford doesn’t deem your truck worthy of an update it doesn’t even show in FDRS. I got a mongoose and updated everything I could but some updates are still missing. Frustrating.

......to add iinsult to injury, we had ways of circumventing this issue and Ford was blocking the avenue the gurus were using to overcome this.

This IPMA update is a doozy. I don’t see how this could ever be done OTA. Coming up on 3 hours, and here I thought I’d do a quick 20 minutes of updates before a road trip. Kids want to kill me now, making them wait!

If it's stays on "Configuring" for more than 2 minutes you need to disconnect, reboot everything, reconnect and then run the IPMA Configuration from the list of tools. That IPMA update has been getting stuck on "configuring" for sometimes hours. It's a script problem.

Yes indeed, if only I had read your post earlier today! The restart worked. I had to let the battery charge recover before doing other updates, all is good now.
