Today my cabin heater suddenly stopped working. The blower works but only blows cold air.

I read that there was a recall (cold solder joint, 7/23 - 8/23, it mine was built 9/23.

Does anyone know anything about this?

Mine had this. Do you hear flowing liquid or a swishing sound behind the dash?

There have been a few failure outside the targeted dates, as mentioned above make sure the coolant reservoir has fluid within low/high limits, if it does not, top up an run the system until air is purged, if does have sufficient fluid then schedule a visit with your dealer.

I assume the heat is made from electric heater coil. There shouldn’t be any liquid involved.
The Lightning still uses a liquid heater core, the coolant/antifreeze goes through an inline PTC heater (think a kettle coil) - it’s not an air to air heater like some other EVs.

its the same PTC that heats the liquid coolant to battery - there’s a diverter valve that routes either cab or battery.

I have had that valve stick once where the cab got no heat (was while preconditioning at a fast charger). Luckily restarting truck solved it.

Being can is higher then battery low coolant resulting in an air lock is a first suspect.

Yes, glycol is used to transfer heat from PTC to heater core.

It's an electric heater inside liquid. Same loop does the whole truck, proper coolant level is critical.

Where is the coolant located?
Open the Frunk, look under the drivers side removable trim panel, you can see the degassing bottle and level marks, if it needs more remove the trim panel, add as needed.

I have issues with my heat right now. Works for a bit, doesn't ever blow that much. Then after a longer drive the other day was only cold error. I have an error code showing for a damper with an ODB scanner so it goes in tomorrow
