If you are that close to a vehicle where this makes a difference then you are way too close!
Regardless of how close the other vehicle in front of you is - the expectation is that once the truck is perceived to be "stopped" by me, the driver, and I let up on the brake, and the vehicle rolls forward UNEXPECTEDLY, there's no knowing how far it will go - yeah, it's "only" 3 inches, but you don't know that at the time, and that create a lack of confidence - auto-hold is supposed to HOLD, not roll.

Weird behavior, but normal. My truck does it too. No idea if it's new; I rarely use the brake pedal all the way to a stop.
Yeah, me too, but my new daily route takes me through some more congested areas with stop and go traffic with people who should not be allowed to drive (maybe that's me :) ).

Maybe I should just forget the on pedal and auto hold features and pretend I'm driving an automatic ICE - that way I'll be programmed to always cover the brake and not worry about "unintended acceleration".

Just turn off auto hold.

Well, that sounds like the behavior. Why do I suck at describing things lately? Anyway you nailed it.

Is it "Normal"? I don't think so.

Is it "New"? Yeah, this is something new in the past few months for sure - thought it might be cold/winter related, but did not have this behavior before the fall for sure.
Just started for me in my past week it seems. Will look at my update history

There’s a light that is often red for me. I am at an uphill slope when I stop for the light. I use 1 pedal mode always. And I always have the feeling that my truck rolls backwards a couple of inches after I stop whether or not I use the brake pedal while coming to a stop.

There was a software update recently, after driving my car using 1 pedal…it seemed harder to come to a stop without using my brake pedals. I just broke 8k miles, maybe I unlocked noob mode?

I tried to reproduce this issue a handful of times and could not.

Just for the record, the “Auto hold” setting doesn’t do anything when 1PD is active. 1PD uses auto hold regardless of the setting.

One-pedal and Hold enabled driver here - have been since I got the truck new. ~28K miles later, I notice that when I come to a full stop, the truck then proceeds to roll forward a few inches after I take my foot off the brake. It feels intentional - not like slop or play, feels more like the motors (re)engage for a split second to move the truck forward before (re)applying the brakes. Almost like a "lurch". Sort of in the vein of "unintended acceleration" but I won't go so far as to label it that so as to not be alarmist.

The is especially noticeable if I come to a somewhat expedited stoppage (hard stop).
So I love the single pedal. My employees hate it. But one similar thing my truck does is roll backwards in park. Never forward. I’m wondering if this is similar? But no drive engagement. Just loose rolling backwards 6 inches.

someone suggested it might be software issue with your problem. And thanks to a thread on here with phone connectivity I called dealership and the hunted and found a service bulletin to reinstall software. Technition stated it take 22 hours to download/install. I will report on any changes it may make.

Auto Hold and 1pd drive will apply the brakes but I doubt they apply a LOT of pressure to the brake system. There may be something on the pads or rotors making them slip a little.

Do you use an automatic car wash? The one here sprayed all kids of soaps and "tire shine" that always had the brakes on my g8 feel weak for quite some time. With the much lower usage of brakes on these trucks something similar could linger for a long time.
