Well crap. Looks like I can be added to the list.

I came out of a meeting this afternoon to this. After a frustrated call to my dealer who had no loaners available, I reset the code and everything was normal for the whole ride home. The code hasn't come back, so I wonder if I made a mistake by clearing it.

It'll go in for service as soon as they have something for me to drive, and I hope that code comes back before then. It would be my luck for this to show up again 6 months from now when I'm on the road or towing something.

Sorry to see that, but looking at your gauge cluster, I’ld say it will be back. 🙁

These are the folks mentioned in this thread so far with problems, a couple seem to have self corrected. Who is missing here if someone knows of 33 reports in the forum? Wish folks would put more in their signatures of build date, model detail, and battery type. Maybe @Ford Motor Company would give us a complete list!

Same message even after it got cleared from ford dealer. Came back next day.
The exact same happened to me. Perfectly normal for the rest of the day, and the truck greets me with this coming out of the grocery store.

I think I’ll blame @The Weatherman and his optimism. 😁

UPDATE:

It seems like opening a case with the Ford BEV team does help a lot. The guy assigned to my case called my dealership behind the scenes and got them to get me in a free loaner, a brand new Escape AWD with a bunch of upgrades. It's not as nice as my truck, but still very nice.

Then the dealership service tech called me and assured me he's working on it, and that I will be called with regular updates by both him and the BEV team. I do appreciate Ford stepping up to help me out while my truck is getting worked on.

One thing that is slightly concerning is that the service tech noted that my truck now has a burning smell coming from it. I had not noticed that myself in the time that I had it at my house with the issue.

This whole experience has made realize how much I love that Lightning. Going from that back to an ICE, even a pretty nice one, seems like a huge downgrade. It's only been 2 days and I miss my truck a lot :(
How did you contact ford BEV team?

As I understand it, error codes are logged so service should be able to see that it was there. Also, with the new CSP for the battery test, they should be able to run a health check to verify. Fingers crossed you can have a speedy repair.

That’s good to know. Fortunately, it‘s no longer a concern.

The warning and code came back last night when I came out of the grocery store. I plugged in when I got home and it started charging normally. It gave up overnight and won’t charge anymore. She’s dead.

I’m showing a 53% power limit, so I think I can drive it down to my dealer. My dealer didn’t know when they’d have a loaner available when I called yesterday, so I reached out to Ford’s customer service center this morning. She opened a case and called their service manager, and they’re gonna have some sort of loaner for me when I show up later this morning.

I made it down to the dealer this morning without issue. I’ve been driving EVs for four years, and my first issue happens two months after buying a Ford. Such a disappointment…everyone else seems to have figured this out.

My dealer is taking care of me and gave me an Edge as a loaner. It’s a deeply mediocre product as a brand-new 2024 model, but it gets me around, so I can be patient.

Update: The dealer said the main battery charger has a short in it. The part is on backorder and will be at least 2 weeks. They are working with Ford to try to expedite since this is a 2 month old truck with less than 5k Miles. The service rep said the part show as a $9k part in his system. Getting a rental today.



My truck is getting towed today for the same issue. Stopped charging on level 2 charges on my portable one and the public one by my office. Less than 2 months with no issues. The available power is at 57% just like the previous post.

Dealer service dept said they could not look at it until Feb 1st, so I called the salesman and he apologized and got it in the schedule as soon as at gets towed there for diagnostics. The salesman said their whole service team has ben trained on EV repair, so they are ready to figure it out. He also said the cold weather has caused electrical issues on several brand new non-ev trucks.

I am not sure if this was caused by the cold weather of -16 this weekend. It took 6 weeks to get the Pro charger and my electrician has been unable to get to the instalation. I am not able to keep it plugged in at home until that is done, so it has been outside overnight during the cold snap. The good news is it should be installed this week and with my utilities seperate meter my overnight charge cost will be .05/ kwh.

What percentage did it stop charging at? Did you see if it would charge to a lower percentage?

It is at 25% right now, which is too low to get to the dealership from the office. I tried to charge multiple times starting it 45% over a couple days with no success. Time to let the pros figure it out.
