Following up from my comment on 12/29/2024 - It is now the 25th day in service (from 12/23/24), 32+ days cumulative within my first year of purchase, and I am still waiting for the dealership to complete the repair for a failed battery module. The other 7-8 days in service was due to issues with parking sensors, frunk, and an open recall.

I purchased the truck in Montana and registered in Colorado right away, but it seems like it qualifies as a lemon in both states, so I have just filed a request for a buy back. I just don't feel confident in the longevity of this truck anymore and will be looking to transition back into an ICE truck after the buy back is complete. If they reject my buy back request, I'll have to go through a lemon law attorney given I meet the legal requirements.

I love this truck so much and it sucks it has to go this way, but it's the right thing to do for myself.

Truck still at dealer because the battery module is on backorder for another 10 days or so. Very frustrating but they did give me a loaner and it was a brand new ICE F150 which makes it even more frustrating having to pay for gas! I bet I'm without my truck for 2 months before its all said and done

What module? My module 3 was requested Fri 10 Jan, Approved by Ford Tues 14 Jan. It’s on the road to the service department right now.
His and yours may be coming from different depots.

Don't forget to get the number to get reimbursed for your gas when you get your truck back.

Why doesn't Ford continue proactively managing the battery module replacement process to improve their customer's experience and confidence in the Ford EV model?

2.5+ weeks without your new vehicle is a terrible experience. These vehicles appear to drive fine and charge okay* for weeks with a couple of cells 30 mV out of family. This is plenty of time for Ford to contact customer with anomalous cell voltages, order the replacement pack, and coordinate a service appointment once the module was delivered all while the customer continues using their vehicle. This alleviates much of the loaner vehicle problem. I was only offered a loaner ten days into the repair, and it's gas . The person who loaned it was completely disconnected from this repair process saying the loaner is due back in two days when the service department says it'll be at least a week until the battery module is delivered. This continues being a bad experience you can fix @Ford Motor Company

*I experienced a normal charging curve below 83% DC and 93% AC with the P0B24 cleared while I had to use the vehicle. The battery management system is smart enough to slow down to protect itself

I also experienced a bit of a disconnect with the loaner process. I was told not to exceed 500 miles and call when I hit 425 to arrange an exchange of loaner vehicles. I called at 425 and they had no other loaners available. I documented the call and will return the loaner with more than 500 miles.

The gradient of all these dealers goes from the best to the worst of the worst. It's a long scale with many being in the middle or lower middle of the scale I would bet.
Imho Ford is not going to lose franchisees by holding dealers to a higher standard. They will revolt, as they did with Ford and their push to electrify the dealerships. It's a 50% take rate nowadays. One has to remember these are independently owned and operated.
Too bad this isn't just applicable to Ford. It seems to be the way things are across the board nowadays.

At least they gave you a loaner lol. It took me 2.5 weeks for Ford corporate give the approval for me to rent a ford edge from my local AVIS lmao. The dealership was completely out of loaners and I got shafted with having no car for the entire time. Honestly such a poor experience so far even with all the escalations and complaints I've raised.

I completely agree and understand. I just heard from Ford saying they accepted the submitted for a buy back, but another rep is supposed to call me in a few days with the terms or offer. So we will see what they come up with. It’s unfortunate because it seemingly is a nice truck, just the opposite of reliable with it being out of operation for more than 25% of the time I have owned it.
I'm so sorry you've had to go through this bs. Would you mind sharing some details about your truck's issues and timeline leading up to the buyback please?

It's currently my 29th day for this stint and 36+ days total in the shop within the first year of ownership for me. I don't expect them to reject my buyback request, but who the fuck knows at this point... I can see them going with "this is the first battery module failure so we're rejecting the request." If they do go that route, I'm going straight to a lemon attorney given it's met the minimum requirements. It seems like it's Ford's best interest to buy back and not go through the legal process, so fingers crossed for me lol...

I had a 2018 f150 where the tranny went out one year in as well. I had to do the same thing that time - rent a car on my own and submit for reimbursement so even worse actually. Loaners should be guaranteed for vehicle's having warranty repairs done - criminal that they are not. No loaner - call enterprise for your customer and set it up on Ford's dime. How there is a module shortage is criminal as well - not like these things are flying off the shelf so you would think suppliers would be in stock if Ford sales are not hitting expectations. All this sucks because for the first 19K miles it was the best vehicle I've ever driven

I guess this is dealer dependent (the loaner thing)? When I needed to have a battery module replaced, the service manager gave me a loaner without my asking, gave me the number to get my gas reimbursed without my asking and called me with status updates through the process. Whole thing took about 8 days, only because they had to reorder a part because the tech said one part was damaged in shipping. All in all was a pretty good experience for me.

Service managers do not provide consistent information across dealers. There's been no mention from the service department Ford will reimburse me for any expenses while my vehicle is out of service for warranty repairs. I see a previous post mentioned a phone number to call for reimbursement.

This service department didn't offer me a loaner vehicle until day 10. It sounds like others are saying Ford will reimburse gasoline in a loaner or rental (and the rental itself) while your electric vehicle is having warranty work completed,

Does anyone know if Ford will reimburse my mileage in those first 10 days of my lightning being out of service at the IRS rate, $0.70/mile?
