Mine was built 12/2023, so it falls in the date range. I figured I better give my nuts a quick self-check, so I just reached in and felt both of my nuts and they're still firmly attached. :like: It also appears that they haven't dropped yet (So in this case, that's good news too). Not sure if they're properly torqued, but I'll assume they're good for now. If I get the recall letter, I'll make an appointment with the specialist. 👨‍🔧

Did you cough while performing the check?

"Based on a review of this data, CCRG was able to determine that certain vehicles built between November 6, 2023 and February 12, 2024, may have failed to achieve the required torque due to variation in the alignment or orientation between the DC nutrunner tool and the nut to secure the upper control arm to knuckle ball joint. CCRG was able to confirm that the suspect vehicle population, including the vehicle that experienced an accident, were built within this date range. "

Guess I should probably check mine since it was built in December 2023
Mine is also a December 2023 build. Guess I’d better have my nuts checked out.

Apparently the nut installer was singing "sometimes you feel like a nut, sometimes you don't" perhaps?

I'm Oct 2023, built before the nuts fell.

We are left hanging: Were the nuts bad, not torqued enough, or just overlooked?

My truck is not in the recall time frame and I do not have any problems.

For reference, I took a photo of each side of the truck and believe this is how they are suppose to look. Seems to have quite a bit of thread showing below the nut.

Photo taken from the front of the tire in case anyone wants to compare to their own truck.

Looking at the photos one can see how this is assembled at the factory.
There is a hex on the ball joint shaft that is held by the installation tool as
the nut is run down.

During my days as a Ford Mechanic, shortly after the earth cooled, Ball Joints
and Tierod ends used Castelated Nuts and cotter pins. There was a torque spec
but it did not matter as there was no guarantee that the cotter pin could be installed
at that torque. If the holes did not match, you Always tighten the nut never loosened
to install the cotter pin. This system was easily visually checked. Something the
current system can not be. I guess this is progress, but the older system was far more
fail resistant than this new system. The new system does not require as many humans
so possibly cheaper. If this system makes many of these errors it might not be cheaper!

Welp, just checked my plate and my '24 was built 02-02-2024, so I'm in the time frame.
