Before anyone says "the app", I cannot use my phone where I work.

Its a balmy 1F outside today and it would be great to start the truck before I walk out of the building. I have yet to find a desktop site I can initiate a remote start, or even a FOB option to at least warm it up on my walk across the parking lot.

Any options out there that are not aftermarket, and not the app, for remotely starting the truck?

Email your spouse and have them start it from the app on their phone?
You can have multiple drivers enabled with copies of the app per vehicle.

No, there are not.

You can use a phone app, but it requires connectivity... So no.

There is no fob option.

I mean, not the app and not aftermarket basically translates into: "does Ford have a website for remote start ?" and the answer is, no, they don't.

I don't know if google home allows you to access it via the web, in that case you could set up an account for the sole purpose of running fordpass adding and remote start through there.
Amazon Alexa doesn't.

You could also see if there a vnc server for your phone that allows you to remote in via a webbrowser.

There might be a simpler path than this.... but...

  1. Install the Google Android Studio on your Mac/PC (they have both flavors)
  2. Open Android Studio, Select Projects > More Actions > Virtual Device Manager
  3. Tap + and create a new Device, like a Pixel 9 with default settings and 8GB memory
  4. Run and get logged in. Use your existing personal Google credentials.
  5. Open the Play Store in the emulated device. Install Fordpass.
  6. Login to Fordpass.
  7. Start your truck.

It sounds as if using your phone at work is not allowed - but accessing the Internet IS? If so, I'd suggest that you either:

1) Set up something through Home Assistant or similar - I have utilized the Home Assistant add-on fordpass-ha to connect to my account and activate commands through my home automation system

Or

2) Buy the above kit to add remote key fob start.

For what it's worth, I really *really* love using Home Assistant. I have an automation that triggers every morning to check the outside temperature on our deck, and if it's below 3ºC, activate the climate control through a remote start command.

It's completely hands off from my perspective, although I do try and turn it off when I know I'm not going to need my Truck. I have a similar setup for my Chevrolet Bolt EV using another Home-Assistant add on called homeassistant-addons-onstar2mqtt.

IF you don't want to go through the process of using Home Assistant, but you're someone who is code-savvy, I believe you might be able to set up the same thing using a javascript library or similar. You'd need to look at what the FordPass-ha folks have done to replicate it though.

3) I really like the suggestion above to install Google Android Studio ;)

If you work in such a regulated environment then you will know exactly what time you leave work.

Set a departure time.

The setup will take you 5-10 minutes but you can do this with an Alexa routine and VoiceMonkey as a virtual Start button that you can press from a webpage. I use it to do my own version of Walk Away Lock.

If you already have Alexa and the FordPass skill you have most of what you need. I have attached instructions that I use for WAL that covers setting up Alexa and VoiceMonkey. But it is a very similar setup to start truck, just add PIN code and skip the IFTTT and Siri steps. Here are the changes you will need:

Step 1,2,3: Skip these if you already have the FordPass skill and Alexa working. You will need the Alexa app on your phone for step 7 though.
Step 4a: name the trigger starttruck
Step 6: Skip this entire step since you do not need IFTTT for this.
Step 7d: type Start Truck
Step 7e: choose starttruck (the same thing you typed in 4a)
Step 7g: The command is Ask FordPass to start truck with PIN 1234. Use the pin you created in 3f.
Step 8: Skip this step. No need to involve Siri.

That's it for setup. From now on to start your truck, go to the VoiceMonkey website and click Trigger for your Start Truck routine. It triggers Alexa to run your start truck routine in the background. No phone app required.

I doubt your company allows it but it would be even simpler if you have an Amazon Dot in your office tied to your Amazon account. Then you don't need any of this except setting up Fordpass with Alexa. You would just tell the Alexa Dot Ask FordPass to start truck with PIN 1234.

Here is what the Voice Monkey website looks like:
