IF they can hit that price point, I say it is a good addition to the options for people, I like it as a hobbie-farm mini-truck in a milder climate than I see...kinda follows the same line of thinking as the scout. We need some more affordable model EV's

and not everyone need 400 mile range in 'every vehicle' - and what I mean is, most of us have more than one vechicle at home, between my wife and I we have three. (one ICE and two EV's) so don't look at the Slate as a one size to fit all uses, most families have several vechicles, this only needs to fit some of the uses.
Does it have a Frunk?!

$34k with the bigger battery for an anemic 240 miles/2-seater/rough ride/2-WD doesn't sell in snow states - no way - 492 miles max range 2025 Silverado EV WT is more like it -

I don't know if your post was supposed to be ironic / sarcastic (sometimes that gets lost in written form without emojis).

What I don't understand is why people are so hell bent on looking at what it isn't.
Oh man, only 140 miles, only 2wd, only this that and the other.

OK, so, uhm, I don't know, just don't buy it !?

I don't think this vehicle is right for me personally, but I can appreciate what it is and whom it is for and for them it is perfect.

I'm sure people had similar arguments when the first cars came around, why would you want that POS vs. a horse, breaks down, no gas stations, can't go offroad, etc. and yet, here we are...

OK, their reveal was pretty cool! Which of course is the point of the presser. I see the use case for it and many on this forum have done things to make their truck theirs so from that standpoint, it is a good marketing gimmick.-this is what you get, but here’s what you can do to it. Now, if they can figure out how to add more range or more speed.

sw engineering manager,
Lack of AWD really limits the market for places like MN where it snows a couple months of the year. Would want at least front drive.

But cost is nice.

Amazon is good at one or two things, maybe three now. But this pushes their limits.

Remember their Amazon Fire Phone?

Stick to what you know:

1. Stuffing items in boxes and shipping.

2. Streaming movies and selling Kindle books.

And now…maybe…

3. Shooting rockets 🚀 in the air.

Time will tell if normal ICE truck/SUV people will accept this. Price is right, have to see if they can keep it at production.

Tesla, GM, RAM all failed that goal!

“Here is the $39,990 EV truck!” Right?!

This isn't an Amazon thing. Bezos is a backer/investor but Amazon doesn't directly have anything to do with this. In fact, I believe they've got more of a connection to Rivian with their contract to produce delivery vehicles.

Also, Blue Origin is not an Amazon thing either.

I think it's more a discussion of "what else" it compares against.

Personally, I love it. I was talking with my daughter about it.
The problem is the more we looked the less it made sense. Under $20k is great, but push that to over $25 for the longer range (which isnt long if you get any winter), add more for the top, and now you have to compare it to a maverick XL, and that has more room, is better suited to hauling more people or having a family, is much better equipped, can haul and tow more, and is from a well established manufacture on a mature platform. Yes, you have a higher operating cost, but with 30mpg highway the maverick isn't bad on that front.

One hundred percent agree. All those customization costs will add up quickly, potentially pricing it out of the competition. Then, if the Federal rebate goes away, it's pretty much a non-starter. That would be a bummer.
