Thank you for the kind words, dude! I'm not master, or even close, but my 3d printing obsession has turned into a 3d modeling obsession, so I'm making baby steps to get better!that would be awesome if you could make a flat version too! I’m not good at CAD, I just print a lot!
I just ordered a carbon fiber plate, good excuse to try it out!!
im going to try printing the lid on its side next, will post results. Main part is nearly done…10 hour printing
Ps. you’re a master with this, a huge thank you for all the time and effort! I hate my shifter. Amazing truck, and absolute horrible shifter. This is an amazing project!
For those who don't have one and want one, Infotainment will sell you the kit. What does the original shifter look like when you take it out?
I haven't done it (yet) and I think the 1st video pertains better as there is no column shifter on our trucks that the 2d video deals with.Found these 2 youtube videos on how to do the replacement. Anyone who has done it want to chime in on which video they think is better?
Awesome idea to print diagonally! Very happy to see it can be done in 256mm cubed as that appears to be a common build volume and expands my printer choices quite a bit.Printed both parts vertically. (Original cap version,… not using the carbon build plate, that comes Wednesday). No post processing done , except sanding off some of the supports in the circle.

printer: Bambu x1c 0.2mm layer height (standard); 10 hours for the main body, another 2h for the cover (upright). Total filament, with supports, was around 350grams (1/3 a spool)

Wow, this turned out great!Printed both parts vertically. (Original cap version,… not using the carbon build plate, that comes Wednesday). No post processing done , except sanding off some of the supports in the circle.
Overture ASA Black is a bit too grey, almost a hint of red in the sun. It doesn’t match the ford interior at all. See the photo with the stock shifter. For the color difference. Major bummer.
Bambu labs PETG HF black is a nice deep black, but lacks the heat requirements for a hot summer day! I have Polylite ABS Black on order.

The stuck shifter hasn't happened to me yet (knocking on wood) but from reading other posts it seems to be a mechanical or some sort of switch internal to the mechanics of the shifter that goes bad or gets stuck. What I have found on my shifter is that sometimes it does not want to leave park easily, and this always seems to be when I am in a rush. It is difficult for me to replicate so I still haven't figured out how or why it happens. I have to push really hard on the brake and wiggle the shift handle and then it comes out of whatever position it seems to be temporarily stuck in.I've always liked the shifter in the trucks - perfect place to rest your hand, however the number of people that have reported being stranded in the Lightning due to the stuck shifter make a person think this might be a mod to consider.
So that is my question, that may only come with time, or never be proven. Is the stuck shifter problem an electronic issue with the truck and software that might be replicated with the knob? Or is it a physical issue with the motors and factory shifter from the truck that would be completely thwarted by ditching it and replacing it with the rotary knob?
Hmm, that's odd. I see it in the Files section (called "Shift_Box_Lid"). It looks like I can't post STLs here, otherwise I'd just send it here.Hey guys, i found the file for the main housing as i do not want the gridfinity cubbys. just the clean housing. But i cannot find the file for the "lid" the cover with the round hole. I opened all the attachments. Does anyone have the file they can post?
This thread started out with another option but beginning in post 41 became this open source version. Make sure you are going to the proper web page. The Shift_Box_Lid.stl file (plus two variations) is clearly on that page:Hey guys, i found the file for the main housing as i do not want the gridfinity cubbys. just the clean housing.
