I feel like the swap from 15 inch to 12 would be cheaper and easier to source the parts. They might be the same as the ice trucks.
Aside from the physical parts there’s a unknown going the other way around.

Would bluecruise still be supported? The upgrades to it come with the larger screen. Idk if there’s a control module in there for that or something else.

It’s a bit like the power steps having a control module in the drivers seat. Fitwise it’s doable but imagine finding out after the effort to swap only to find that XYZ no longer works.

Agreed, I feel the same. Im willing to give it a try but would need help from smarter people than me for the forscan programing.

This will require more than just FORScan programming. Many people have attempted going from 8" to 12" screens on the the ICE trucks and they end up causing serious configuration issues. If this is something you really want to pursue, I would suggest finding a vendor that offer the parts and the support needed to make sure everything is properly configured to avoid problems.

@Jesse-Infotainment Do you guys offer any kits for this?

I liked the idea of a 15" Large screen, however, I disagree with Ford's positioning, implementation, screen real estate usage, and sacrifices (physical buttons). Having driven/used both I prefer the 12". It very much is personal preference though.

On topic to the original post...I'm not sure if more hardware is needed for SYNC 4a vs SYNC 4 than just the apim, screen, vents, and bezels.

I was pleasantly surprised that the Pro I bought with the 12" screen/console had real nice big buttons to push for climate etc. I can't imagine trying to go through multiple menus just to adjust something with climate control.

My complaint is the radio in the Pro with no AUX in handy (maybe there is one inside the console?) and no USB input selection in the audio menu when I plug an iPod or other MP3 player in - in my Nissan Leaf, the radio finds the iPod easily when it is plugged into the USB.

The iPod does not support Apple CarPlay so that was not an option.

I tried pairing the iPod to the Radio with the BlueTooth, which sorta worked but the every few seconds, the sound would drop out for a split second. Very annoying.

So I went back to my ancient FM adapter and that works great with the iPod and a different MP3 player (Zune), tuned to FM 87.9, no sound drop outs.

My portable Sirius XM Roady also works fine with the FM tuner hookup.

But it is a mess of wires to organize. Also I had to use my old cigarette lighter socket doubler for the FM transmitter and the Roady power adapters.

So I like the 12" screen and dash set-up. But a radio head with built-in Sirius XM would be my wish or things to change on my 2023 Pro.

I wonder if the PRO radio can be switched out for one with Sirius XM built in, or reprogrammed, or would it be a mess of incompatibility issues like switching the screens from12 to 15 inches probably is.

unpopular opinion
I am also unpopular. I originally wanted the xlt ER with 12" screen, to get a truck quicker I went with Lariat and I do not regret that. I like the added comforts and the screen doesn't bother me at all. I find it's readable in all conditions and touchscreen works just fine. You definitely don't get a tactile sense like buttons but I don't fidget with it that much. Voice commands help too.

Having the ability to control fan speed and adjust temp with the volume dial made things much better on the 15 inch screen. If the screen worked with any pair of gloves (not just the special gloves for screens) it would be great (our Volvo screens work with any pair of gloves).

To anyone considering this:

I spoke to Jesse from Infotainment and while they have looked into this, the reason they don't offer a plug-&-play kit is because the dashboards themselves are fairly different. It does not seem like everything will mount up directly.

The entire IP is different with the 15 inch screen. This will never work.

I think Ford just wanted to look like Tesla but doesn’t have the dedication to make what they did better through an update.
Careful what you wish for. As a Tesla owner since 2015 I can say that pretty much every single major update has made the screen displays and controls much worse.

I like the size of the 15" and am OK with most of the functionality. Just wish it was a bit more responsive. I have to wait 2 "Mississippi" when I want to use the dial to adjust fan speed. Drives the wife crazy when she hits it and doesn't wait. We end up with a loud radio that we can't turn down cuz the dial is now in fan speed mode. Other than that, I dig it. Android Auto could stand to improve a bit too, so the top 3rd isn't always the map, but that's a Google problem, not Ford.

I'm a fan of the 15" screen. When I'm cold I turn the temperature up, when I'm warm I turn the temperature down. If the windows need defrosting I press the max defrost button until they don't, then I press it again to go back to my last setting. I have no need or desire for more HVAC controls.

Most of the time I have Google Maps in full screen mode. I've discovered new routes through town because it's so easy to read.

15" is good. 30" would be better!🤣
