Tesla NACS Adapter Recall / Replacement Notice (10/24/24)

So far, no one date code is standing out as the only defective date.
Here are reported recalled serial numbers that can be tied to a specific adapter:

Mine are the 27th and the 30th of May...even closer than yours. But, yeah....who knows which ones are in the 'bad batch'....

His videos are OK but he takes what should of been 2, maybe 3, minutes of dialog and stretches it into almost 15 minutes. Drives me nuts!

Drives me nuts too but that's a YouTube thing, they actively encourage content creators to make longer videos. I think for advertising reasons. Most YouTubers do it and it's refreshing when you come across one that doesn't.

Thanks for offering to track this. I did get the email and my serial # date code was 24152 which means my mfg date was May 31

Looks like there was a week of a bad production.

So ol’ Fred’s working the GigaFactory line and hears his buddy Rico and cousin Julie just got canned by Elon. “I’ll teach those @#%$&-ers to mess with my peeps!!!”

Five months later Fred’s scratching his head wondering why his key card won’t work at the company parking lot kiosk…

I took an older version of a @GDN spreadsheet and highlighted in red all the folks who got the email. Exclusively June deliveries and across all June ship dates.

Roughly order numbers from 1266 to 6455. A few folks in this range reported not getting an email however.

I got the email after I left for a road trip to WNY. Used magic docks when I could, but I did use it for the 1st and 2nd time, no issues. #4526 GF2 24149

I got my adapter about a month ago and finally used it for the first time last weekend with no issue. I've not received that email as of yet.

Well, that’s one of the downfalls of owning a Ford lightning or any other EV besides a Tesla.

I have yet to find a charging station that is operational. So, this limits me to staying around my local area and charging at home.

Although, I do maintain an ice vehicle 6.2L for those long road trips.

Welp. I bought one from someone on eBay because I need it next weekend. I called Ford and the EV team says they do not have access to a range of bad serial numbers. I told them about my case, and the nice person stated that since there is no way for them to tell from the serial number, they cannot advise. Their very helpful advice was:

“If your vehicle’s charging port is damaged by the adapter, you would need to take it to an authorized Ford dealer where they can make a determination on warranty eligibility.”

I guess the good news is that the consensus is that it appears to be a range of dates in late May, and mine was built on August 17th, and has the -20-D part number.

Thanks to everyone here who has helped sleuth the bad dates!

What’s the Serial #? The date of production is imbedded and it will give you a good idea if it’s included.

So far the email has only been sent to a very small window of time. Late May to early June, 2024.
