There is a Tesla station in Wharton that would’ve been helpful if I had the adapter. You were very lucky to get a tow and be home in 2 hrs. Remarkable even.
There are charging deserts in places. Even having a Tesla adapter wouldn't have helped you.
If I was driving 180 miles in an area with headwinds, I would plan on getting 1.4. With 125kW available (taking off some), you can't make it. I would drive it 60mph to make it.
I have carefully gauged my return trip from that charging station several times. I should’ve gotten home with about 10% charge if the discharge curve were stable like it has been so many times before. This time it just went to zero in a hurry. The last 25 miles I usually get above 2.0 because the speed limits are slower and there’s more traffic.
