You were very lucky to get a tow and be home in 2 hrs. Remarkable even.

There are charging deserts in places. Even having a Tesla adapter wouldn't have helped you.

If I was driving 180 miles in an area with headwinds, I would plan on getting 1.4. With 125kW available (taking off some), you can't make it. I would drive it 60mph to make it.

There is a Tesla station in Wharton that would’ve been helpful if I had the adapter.

I have carefully gauged my return trip from that charging station several times. I should’ve gotten home with about 10% charge if the discharge curve were stable like it has been so many times before. This time it just went to zero in a hurry. The last 25 miles I usually get above 2.0 because the speed limits are slower and there’s more traffic.

You are not alone. There have been several reports of the SOC dropping unexpectedly fast below 10%.

To stay safe , one should not plan on using anything below 10%. That will keep you off the side of the road anyway.

I am anticipating FORD diagnosing the issue and adjusting the SOC monitoring accordingly with a software update.

At one point I was running her down comfortable to under 5%, then it was 10%. Hate to say it, but I recommend 15% now....

Actually, I don’t plan on using the truck at all anymore. This was the last straw.

I went from doing 5,000 miles per month in mine to less than 5,000 within the last 6 months, having a tough time trusting the truck over long distances so I understand. I still love mine locally as a truck and use it as a backup power source, I just stopped using it as a cruiser.

Ford really needs to fix this IMO. It erodes trust in the product and it's a phenomenal product.

You couldn’t make a 178 mile trip with 90% charge. So I’m assuming it’s the SR?

I would have a hard time living with that configuration too. The ER is just barely enough for me.

Considering that it has been charging for more than three hours on level one, and it’s still at 0%, I think you may be correct.

I knew that I would get judgmental and accusatory posts. Congratulations, you are the first. All I was doing was driving the speed limit. I was drafting as much as possible. People who get 2.2 have 65 mile an hour speed limits and drive in heavy traffic. I have 75 mile an hour speed limits and the roads are pretty sparse. You would get 1.6 or 1.7 also. And there are absolutely no options for me to charge closer than 178 miles from home on that route. Please consider that other peoples’ conditions may be different before you judge.

You should be able to take it to 0 percent. If it doesn’t make it there, that’s not your fault.

I think the sign that you are only getting 1.7mi/kWh should tell you something, when others of us are getting 2.2-2.5 or even better...
if you are driving with a led foot, and you 'wait' until you are extremely low in battery power before you change your methods, you might be surprised...

22% is not "extremely low" and neither is 10%. And, honestly, neither is 3%, if you only have 5 miles to go to home. 3% of the rated range is 10 miles.

This problem should not be possible. It can be nobody's fault but @Ford Motor Company and I hope they make it right.

I really want to keep the truck because I like driving it so much, but it just doesn’t suit my use case scenario. I go out of town too often. I’m in a charging desert. I have huge headwinds when I go back south towards Corpus Christi so I get lousy mileage. I’ve tried for a year and a half but I’m done.

Sounds like ya gave it a hell of a try. To that, I’m also in the 1.7-1.8 range for my commute to work. 75mph in AZ as well. Any slower than 80mph and the big rigs are running ya off the road! Good luck on your next ride

I just drove 220 miles yesterday at 65-75 mph and got back with 100 left.

Do you charge to 100% every now and then?

I’ve learned that if I don’t do that, my calculations are off. I figured that out when my Truck spent forever at 99% one time because it’s like was realizing calculations were incorrect.

It was at 100% when I set out this morning. Then I charged 60% to 90% for the second leg home. I charged to 100% about 2 months ago as well.

Charging for 5 hours so far and still 0%. I recalled that I have an OBDII scanner. Anyone want to tell me what this means? The voltage should be close to 400, correct?
