I tried updating the IPMA last night, fully expecting it to take 3+ hours, but it actually ran for about 9 hours - not kidding. Then at the end it said there was a error/it was unsuccessful. Pretty annoying. Did anyone else run into this error? Should I have updated something else prior to the IPMA? Prior to this I've updated the PCM, ABS, SOBDMC, BECM, CCM, PSCM and the CMR. Still plenty left to do lol.

Be sure to follow these directions, many modules requires others the be performed before they will take.

The IPMA is the most challenging of the modules I've done. It was about 3+ hours on both my F-150 PB and my Mach-E. The Mach-E was fairly scary at one point when my 20A powersupply couldn't keep up with maintaining the voltage above 11v, and I had to pull the PB alongside and run jumpers from it to the jumpers already running from the powersupply to the Mach-E to get back into a comfortable tolerance. I don't know if that's what caused your issue but I know I had to watch my voltage like a hawk on both vehicles when doing the IPMA and the IPC as well.

I think besides having a decent internet connection the biggest concern in doing this is making sure you will have consistently stable voltage during some of the longer procedures like the IPMA. Shouldn't be underestimated.

I didn't have the instructions when I updated my vehicles, but the basic advice I relied on from this forum when doing my vehicles was to always do a GWM module update if it came up in the list (after checking the SW Updates tab after each procedure) cause that connects everything.

Wait - so the MachE also required an external battery supply during long updates? The battery wouldn't recharge from the HV during the process? I understand an ICE which needs the alternator spinning for juice, but would not have expected this on an EV which has all the juice it likely needs sitting in the HV.

I finally had a chance to spend the day yesterday with a Mongoose and FDRS license. I have a 2021 job 1 and was hoping to finally get BlueCruise.

I had about 15 updates to install. There was no APIM update listed. All of the updates installed successfully with the exception of a GSM update that won't seem to go away and my Instrument Cluster Module. It gave me the attached error and then the update disappeared from my list. My sync version is still revision 244.

I saw a previous poster had a very similar issue a couple weeks ago and reported it solved, but I'm not sure what the resolution was. Any ideas on how to keep moving my updates forward? Thank you!!

SSM 50671 - FDRS ALERT - 2021 F-150 - Instrument Panel Cluster (IPC) Programming Failures
Some 2021 F-150 vehicles may experience an Instrument Panel Cluster (IPC) programming failure during Programmable Module Installation (PMI) and/or Software Update with the Ford Diagnosis and Repair System (FDRS) which states either The Module Configuration Has Failed, Would You Like To Retry? or Procedure Unsuccessful- RestoreDE0x_Range Exception Writing Configuration To Module. This may be due to the gateway module (GWM), accessory protocol interface module (APIM) and/or telematics control unit (TCU) not being at the correct software level to support an IPC software update. Perform all available software updates for the GWM, APIMand/or TCU. When these software updates are complete, continue with PMI and/or software update of the IPC.

So quick question without reading 230 pages this can still be done and it's preferred to use Mongoose-Plus right? I've tried 2 different dealers they have no idea how do this or they can't give me straight answer one said i even need to pay for updates unbelievable still both want me to leave me truck for days without rental my build is dec. 2020 still on 20312 revision 243. Im just fed up as my underbody recall was done only to find out i got 2 more recalls now every time I stop at the stealership they have no rentals available so much for warranty work smh

It did indeed and because the 12v battery in the Mach-E is not anywhere close to the capability of the one in my F-150 PB it got seriously dragged down during the longer updates. Remember, you're meant to be doing these updates KOEO so you're in "Accessory" mode not full on.

The F-150 updates (basically 21G01) never dragged my voltage down lower than 12v using the PL2320 powersupply. But I saw 10.9v at one point when doing the Mach-E with the powersupply attached and had to use my F-150 PB to provide jumper power to git'er done. But it worked and I've got BC on both vehicles at this point.

The problem is that dealers have mechanics working on this and it take a little bit of technical computer knowledge to understand what is being done while following procedures to update computer modules. It a training issue, but also a background issue as well. Dealers will need to start hiring "Digital mechanics" to perform these functions and understand the internal networks of the vehicles and how they operate to properly service them.

I got the same thing. Overnight "nap" cured it for me. Nothing else worked including a 3 hour nap, reconnecting/disconnecting, rebooting, etc.
I tried it again after a couple days and it worked. Truck needs a nap sometimes like I do, I guess.

Just wanted to report success on a second vehicle. Business partner and I order identical trucks. I just got done with his today and it was a little different - a couple more errors and more modules to update, plus had to do the TSB for get his truck unstuck. But all in all, success! Thanks again to everyone!
